Annual Taste Fest begins Fall Festival
The traditional
opening event of the
Plymouth
Fall
Festival for many is
the Civitans Taste
Fest, set for 6-8 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 9 in the
lower parking lot at
Station 885 restaurant
inOldVillage.
More than 15
restaurants will be
participating this year
including Bahama
Breeze, Beyond Borders, CAYA Smokehouse Grill, Cupcake
Station, Grand Traverse Pie Co., Happy's Pizza and Ribs,
LaBistecca, Station 885, Tony Sacco's, FrenchToast andWok
AsianBistro, among several others.
According to Kathy Turnquist, who has organized the
Taste Fest for the Civitans club for several years now, there
may bemore participating restaurants soon.
“We are serving such a variety of things again this year,”
she said. “There will be Jerk Chicken Pasta, cupcakes, pie,
chicken wings, beef tenderloin and prime rib along with
pizza andpulledpork sliders and salsa and guacamole.
“We will certainly have 15, and there may be some oth-
ers, too, but as always, there will be a wide selection,”
Turnquist, who is also the secretary of theFall Festival com-
mittee, added.
Rob Costanza, owner of Station 885, has been helping the
Civitans for several years now with the event. The restau-
rant has a large, lower level parking area which is profes-
sionally landscaped by Serene Surroundings, turning the
area into a park-like setting for theTasteFest.
There will also be a live band to entertain the crowds
andbar service available fromthe restaurant.
Costanza said that “The Reverend” Marc Falkenberry, a
classic rock and blues band, will continue to play after the
TasteFest ends at 8 p.m. and visitors can stay on to enjoy the
atmosphere, the bar service and themusic until 10 or so.
“The volunteers though and the restaurants really
deserve credit for stepping up and doing this. It's a great
event, a real good time andhelps a great cause.”
Tickets, priced at $15, or $5 for children ages 5-10, can be
purchased at Station 885, located at 885 Starkweather or at
the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce office at 850West Ann
Arbor Trail in Plymouth, or by calling Turnquist at (734) 459-
1896. Children younger than 5 are admitted at no cost with a
parent.
