          Stepping it up
        
        
          Centennial Dancers preserve tradition of Polish culture, heritage
        
        
          When the Polish Centennial Dancers step onto the stage
        
        
          Saturday morning, they will bring hundreds of years of tra-
        
        
          ditionwith them.
        
        
          From their authentic costumes, made from designs
        
        
          handed down through generations, to the intricate and live-
        
        
          ly steps of their dances, they repeat steps long part of the
        
        
          history of the Polish culture. The group is based in
        
        
          Plymouth and has been educating students from 3-18 about
        
        
          the Polish heritage and culture through music, dance and
        
        
          song for more than three decades. This year, they have
        
        
          about 40 members, having recently graduated five, accord-
        
        
          ing to Barbara J. Martin, director of the Polish National
        
        
          AllianceCentennial Dancers.
        
        
          The dancers appear in performances throughout the
        
        
          state and march in parades in their efforts to preserve and
        
        
          promote their Polishheritage.
        
        
          “Our group has performed throughout Michigan, at festi-
        
        
          vals, senior centers, for church events, weddings, this past
        
        
          summer we helped debut the Polish Pizza at Buddy's
        
        
          Restaurant in Livonia, Tiger games for Polish American
