Being Inspired by…P-CCS Special Education Program
During the past 20 years, The Rotary Club of Plymouth A.M. has provided more
than $100,000 in special equipment for students in the Infant Preschool Special
Education Program (IPSEP) in the Plymouth Canton Community Schools. The
district operates the program, which serves the needs of infants and young chil-
dren with disabilities from birth through 6 years of age, at the Allen Early Learning
Academy in Plymouth. About half the children are somewhere on the autism
spectrum and the learning disability can be perceived as mild to severe.
All the students served at the center suffer some physical, mental, emotional,
sensory or developmental delay disability which can interfere with typical class-
room learning.
Earlier this year, several
of the Rotarians visited
the Plymouth center to
see the library, gym
and sensory room
which the club helped
furnish.
