where she has been a member for 12 years and suggested
that perhaps the club could help fund the lighting of the
Plymouth symbol as a civic project. She said she was over-
whelmed with the response she received. The club officers
not only agreed to fund the lighting of the project, but sever-
al club members agreed to exceptional in-kind contribu-
tions.
Unilock, the manufacturer of paving products, prompted
by the significance of the monument, donated the needed
pavers for the walkway and Rotarian Paul Opdyke of
Serene Landscape Group, a local beautification company,
donated the necessary labor to install the path. Tim and
Eric Joy of Christensen's Plant and Hardscape Center, also
long-time Rotarians, donated the transportation of the
pavers from the manufacturer to the Plymouth site, which
was no small obstacle to the project.
“We had the pavers donated, but we had no way to get
themhereuntil the Joys said theywoulddo it,” Vega said.
Installation of the LED ground lighting was the first step,
Vega said, and Opdyke's staff completed the paver installa-
tion when the lighting was operational. She said she and
Souchock were delighted to find the project nearly com-
plete by the end of August.
