Fall Festival 2017 - page 18

A Canton Township resident,
Eisimiger owns Rich Realty Group on
Main Street in Plymouth where his
office has been located since 1991. He
has even drafted his wife of 37 years,
Keri, into helping when extra hands
are needed at the Sunday barbeque.
“Yes, I had her counting out the raw
chickens before they went onto the
grills,”Eisimiger said.
At press time, Eisimiger said he felt
things were working well toward the
big day. The club members and some
volunteers had already performed the
annual cleaning of the grills with the
help of the city DPW. The grills are
scoured, scrubbed and carefully sani-
tized every year before being used in
the huge pits which are built Saturday
night from cement blocks filled with
sand and then charcoal.
Early Sunday morning, usually
about 6 or so, the “smoke eaters” start
lighting the charcoal to ensure the cor-
rect temperature for grilling the chick-
ens. The chicken is kept in refrigerat-
ed trucks and placed on the grills
while volunteers clean more than
10,000 ears of corn for the dinners.
“It's like a military operation,”
Eisimiger, 57, said. “The Rotary Club
was doing this for 4 years before I was
born. They know exactly what they are
doing.”
Tickets for the famous chicken din-
ners are $12 if purchased in advance
from any Rotary Club member, or at a
ticket booth on Main Street during the
festival. Dinners are $14 if purchased
the day of the event. Dinners are
picked up at The Gathering, across
from Kellogg Park or at a drive-
through located at West Middle School
at Sheldon Road and Ann Arbor Trail.
Dinners are served from 11 a.m. until
sold out.
