Best friends
Optimists' Pet Show set Saturday
No matter the size
or species, the
Optimist Pet Show
brings out beloved
pets every year during
the Plymouth Fall
Festival. The show
will take place begin-
ning at 9 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 7 on
the Main Stage in
Kellogg Park. There
will be a pet parade
around the park prior
to the contest which includes prizes for largest, smallest,
shortest, tallest, longest and shortest ears and tail, most
unusual, best costume and best trick. Cats, dogs, reptiles,
fish, rabbits and even rodents are all welcome.
Representatives from The Humane Society as well as
dog and cat rescue organizations will be on site with adopt-
ed and adoptable pets. Pets can be registered just prior to
the show.
Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organi-
zation made up of more than 2,500 local clubs whose mem-
bers work each day to make the future brighter by bringing
out the best in children, in their communities, and in them-
selves.
The local Plymouth-Canton Club has served the schools
and community since 1949 with programs such as: Spelling
Bees, Oratorical Contests, Math Jeopardy, Bike Safety
Rodeos, Pet Shows, and numerous other community-cen-
tered events.
