One of the most popular sections of
Art In The Park each year is the area
where the artists from the Village Potters
Guilddisplay some of theirworks.
Each year, the display becomes a little
larger and each year the ceramic art-
work becomes more popular with
crowds of discerning shoppers, some
looking for art and others looking for
originality in function.
The Village Potters have it all in a
wide, nearly all-encompassing range of
ceramic works, including sculptures,
plates, vases, bowls, garden ornaments
and yes, evenbirdbaths.
“If you can make it with clay, some-
body here will do it,” saidKris Darby, the
founder and emeritus member of the
VillagePottersGuild.
Darby, who retired from her career as
an art teacher at Salem High School,
knew she wanted to continue with her
ceramic art and said she was confident
there was a large interest in the medium
in the area.
