Pursuing a dream
Cover artist left job for art
The unusual art chosen by Raychel Rork, president of
Art In The Park, as the featuredwork for the 2016 event was
createdby JesseKunerth, an artist fromOrlando, FL.
Kunerth earned his college degree in graphic design and
worked in that field for 10 years as his burgeoning interest
in the field of digital art grew. He began with music posters,
done outside his 9 to 5 job, using hip hop and indie bands as
the main subjects. To create the posters, he said, he used
illustrations hand-drawn on a computer of the band or rap
artist and then combined various textures as a background
element, a style he continues to use to great effect today,
althoughhis subjects nowdiffer.
“We commissioned the artwork for Art In The Park this
year after seeing his work,” Rork said. She saw samples of
Kunerth's latest work submitted with his application to join
the 2016Art InThePark show.
Kunerth, 37, said he has been pursuing his art career
