Dillenbeck annually chooses a
piece of art to duplicate in chalk on the
pavement helped by a team of volun-
teer artists from the Canton studio.
This year, Rork said, the theme of both
projects will be Alice In Wonderland,
“which shouldbe great.”
Rork said that both these efforts are
popular with visitors who often come
back during the weekend to see how
the art has progressed as it nears com-
pletion. “It's amazing to watch both the
murals grow and change during the
weekend,” she said.
For the first time this year, the festi-
val will offer two shuttle locations,
something Rork thinks may be popular
with visitors.
The closest place to park a vehicle
and board an air-conditioned motor
coach for a short ride to the very center
of the festival is the Burroughs proper-
ty at PlymouthRoad andHaggerty. The
second location is at Madonna
University at Levan and Schoolcraft
roads, right off the expressway in
Livonia.
Rork said this location offers easy
off and on access to the expressway
and may be better for visitors coming
fromfarther away.
“Every year, we get calls fromplaces
in Ohio saying they are bringing a tour
busload of people, and this will help
them and people coming from
Birmingham and Royal Oak,” she said.
“It's an easy place to access so we'll see
how this goes.”
Both Quinn and Rork have been
urging visitors to use the shuttle serv-
ice available to see the event for years
and have agreed it is the best advice
they can offer.
“It's the easiest, most convenient
way to visit the event,”Rork said.
This year, there will be at least one
gourmet food truck at the event, along
with theusual food vendors, Rork said.
“The Bigalora Food Truck has
wood-fired pizza, home-made gelato
and fresh salads,” she said.
Rork said that she hopes that visi-
tors take the opportunity to talk to the
artists at the show, because that, she
said, is what really makes an art festi-
val something special.
“Where else can you go and speak
directly with the person who created
what you are looking for? Almost all
these artists will make anything cus-
tomfor you. Just ask them, talk to them.
They can create exactly what you are
looking for,” she said. “That's really
whatmakes this so special.”
