Larry Lee and Back in the Day, 9:30

In the Day Band was formed by Larry
Lee, who played professional football
with the Detroit Lions, Miami
Dolphins and Super Bowl champion
Denver Broncos. In 1993, Lee transi-
tioned from the football field to the
front office and became a vice presi-
dent of the Lions until 2001. After leav-
ing the Lions, he decided to take his
second love - playing bass - andmake it
a new career. Lee assembled some of
the finest musicians around, including
former members of The Temptations,
the Four Tops, The Spinners, The
Dramatics, The Contours and The
Funk Brothers. The musicians have
played at some of the most prestigious
venues and music tours across the
country and around the world. Back in
the Day plays a mix of cover songs and
originals that span R&B, funk, pop,
soul, blues, hoop-hop, disco and even
rock. The band performs regularly in
Metro Detroit at places such as Ford
Field, the Fox Theater, the Sound
Board Theatre, the Jazz Café and
Baker's Keyboard Lounge and such
events as Arts, Beats & Eats, the Rib &
Soul R&B Fest and River Days. They
have played their high-energy music
and funky soundnationally at Carnegie
Hall, the Greek Theatre, Hines Field
andSuperBowl XL inDetroit.
Tequila Mockingbirds, 11 p.m. to 1
a.m. at the Beer Pavilion - Comprising
Mark Fernandez and Tim Spoehr
make up the duo known as Tequila
Mockingbirds, which play a wide vari-
ety of classic and current pop, rock and
Motown hits. Their large repertoire is
accompanied by a compact but power-
ful sound and lighting system.
