FALL FESTIVAL 2016

Joy said the groups work to make
sure the popular and traditional
attractions return and one of thosewill
be the return of bingo this year.
“I am not kidding. I bet I had more
than 30 people tell me last year that
they really missed bingo Friday night,”
Joy said. “We had several groups that
wanted it, but we were happy to give it
to the Plymouth Canton Little League.
These people just do a fantastic job,
they really do,” Joy said.
“I keep telling anyone who asks me,
bingo is back.”
And another added attraction is
year, Joy said, with obvious pride, is
the addition of a display from the
Northville/PlymouthFireDepartment.
Firefighters will be on site with fire
trucks and equipment for the crowds.
“They are going to have an extend-
ed 100-foot ladder at North Main, just
beyond the craft show,” Joy said. “I
think every kid who comes to the festi-
val will want to be down there looking
at the fire trucks.”
During his nearly 12 years with the
festival organizers, Joy said absolutely
the worst thing that has ever hap-
pened was the storm two years ago
that took down a huge tree right in
Kellogg Park, just a few feet from the
KiddieRides.
“That storm had tents blowing all
over the park and everyone scram-
bling. That tree could have been a real
disaster, but those guys from DPS
(Plymouth Department of Public
Service) were there so fast and had it
cleaned up. We were ready to go the
next morning,” Joy said. “Those guys
are great.”
Another change this year at the Fall
Festival is the location of the shuttle
service drop off from Praise Baptist
Church on North Territorial. The new
drop off will be on the corner of Main
andChurch streets near city hall.
The car showwill be expanded this
year and take up all of Forest Avenue
Pride

Seriously, there is so much
to do and so many groups at
the festival. This really is
all about the community.
