Police academy students celebrate graduation
The accomplishments of 19 young residents were celebrated by the Westland
Police Department last week as they marked their official graduation from the
Westland Police Youth Academy. During the classes, the students experienced
comprehensive and hands-on training from department officers and officials from
the 18th District Court of Westland. The students gained insights into police K-9
demonstrations, taser training, traffic stops, SWAT procedures, court functions,
building searches and evidence technician skills. Officials said the students' dedica-
tion to learning and serving the community was truly commendable. The police
department issued a statement congratulating the graduates and expressing their
pride in the group.
