Toddler Story Time under way
Story Time for children up to 4 years of
age is now available from 10:30 until 11:30
a.m. Wednesdays at the Romulus Public
Library.
The hour includes playtime, stories and
crafts. Older children may attend, but must
be accompanied by an adult. Story times
will continue throughDec. 20.

Art entries sought
Entries are now being accepted for the
8th annual BellevilleCommunityArt Show.
The exhibit will take place Oct. 27
through 29 at the Belleville Yacht Club
(BYC) and is organized by the Belleville
AreaCouncil for theArts.

$25,000 raffle under way
Tickets for the second annual Northville
Educational Foundation $25,000 Cash For
CollegeRaffle are nowavailable.
Tickets are priced at $50 each, or three
for $100. Proceeds from the raffle benefit
the Northville Educational Foundation and
the 7,300 students in the district. If ticket
sales total less than $50,000, the prize will
revert to a 50/50 drawingwith aminimumof
a $1000 prize.
The drawing will take place at about
7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at downtown the
Northville Tree Lighting Ceremony in
Town Square just after the Holiday Lighted
Parade. Ticket holders need not be present
towin.
Tickets will be sold until the start of the
parade Nov. 17, or until all 1500 tickets are
sold, whichever comes first). Purchasers
must be 18 or older.

Health Fair vendors sought
The Romulus Senior Center Annual
Health Fair is now accepting vendors for
the event planned for Oct. 10.
Health professionals can highlight their
companies with the senior community.
Table space rental is $100. Gifts to be raffled
off are also being sought.
Set up will begin at 9 a.m. and the fair
will be open from9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Buddy Up set in Plymouth
Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex
(PARC) is sponsoring an innovative commu-
nity healthy lifestyle programcalled "Buddy
Up" thismonth.
The 8-week program is led by Buddy
Shuh a participant on "Biggest Loser" televi-
sion programwho will share his life experi-
ences on making sustainable healthy
lifestyle changes. Participantswill be put on
a team after choosing a team captain who
will mentor, inspire and support them for
the duration of the program. The program
also includes fitness assessments before
and after the program, weekly 30-minute
fitness classes, and a boot camp style "ware-
house" work out.
The programwill continue from Sept. 23
throughNov. 11. Registration is available at

Library Storytimes begin
Storytimes are planned for September
and October at the Belleville District
Library.
Family Storytimes will take place at 6:30
p.m. Mondays for children ages 4-10; Fall
Tuesday "Toddler Times" are planned for 11
a.m. for children ages 2-4 and Fall
Thursday "Toddler Times" will take place at
11 a.m. also for children ages 2-4.

Scarecrow Contest during the month of
October.
Businesses, organizations, individuals

Inkster Senior Services will host the Fall
Harvest Celebration beginning at 1 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 22 at the Booker T. Dozier

Lifeline screenings available
Residents living in and around
Belleville can learn about their risk for car-
diovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes,
and other chronic, serious conditions with
affordable screenings by Life Line
Screening. Fraternal Order of Eagles will
host this community event on Sept. 23 at
9961BeckRoad inBelleville.
Screenings can check for: the level of
plaque buildup in arteries, related to risk
for heart disease, stroke and overall vascu-
lar health; HDL and LDL cholesterol lev-
els; diabetes risk; bone density as a risk for
possible osteoporosis; kidney and thyroid

Screenings are affordable, convenient
and accessible for wheelchairs and those
with trouble walking. Free parking is also

ShredDay is Saturday
The City of Plymouth and Plymouth
Township will offer a shred day for l resi-
dents of both communities from 9 a.m. until
noon, or until the trucks are filled, on
Saturday, Sept. 23, at Plymouth Township
Hall parking lot, 9955NorthHaggertyRoad.
Shred Legal will be providing the onsite
shredding services.
This marks the second 'Shred Day' event
to be hosted jointly by Plymouth Township
and city this year, something leaders of both
communities cite as part of their new, coop-
erative relationship.
Paper to be shredded is limited to five
banker boxes on each trip. Residents can,
however, make multiple trips throughout
the morning. Documents can be in paper
bags or boxes when brought to shredding.
Documents in plastic bags must be
removed.
Residents participating must also pro-
vide proof of city or township residency
with a driver's license, voter ID card, water
bill, or property tax bill.
Michigan Mobile Hard Drive Shredding
will also be on site to securely dispose of
old andunusedharddrives.

Beer tasting aids shelter
The Friends of Michigan Animals
Rescue will host a Beer Tasting Fundraiser
from 5-10 p.m. Sept. 27 at Original Gravity
BrewingC., 440County St., Milan.
The evening will include a farmer's mar-
ket from 5-7 p.m., a 50-50 drawing, raffles,
tours, a Panini menu and a special craft
beer brewed for the group.

Philharmonic opens season
The Michigan Philharmonic will open a
new season on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the
Village Theater in Canton with "A Bit of
Beethoven&Blue Jeans".
This 2017-18 concert series themed Arts
Advocacy, highlights the Michigan
Philharmonic commitment to community
and diversity as the orchestra features
music by composers from different cultural
backgrounds, as well as inviting local artists
and various youth groups to collaborate.
