Ghostswalk in park
The popular Ghosts of PlymouthWalk is
planned for Saturday, April 23 this year.
Visitors can hear tales of early
Plymouth from characters such as mer-
chant Calvin Crosby; photographer Romeo
Wood; Sarah Fuller Shattuck, daughter of
Michigan Anti-Slavery Society leaders and
the fiery Carrie Nation, the temperance
womanwith an axe.
The walks begin at 5 p.m. and groups
leave every 15 minutes, circling Kellogg
Park in downtown Plymouth to listen to
the "ghosts". The walk lasts approximately
90 minutes and the last group will depart
at 7 p.m. Participants shouldmeet near the
fountain inKelloggPark.
Tickets are $10 per person ($5 for chil-
dren under 10) if purchased in advance.

Clean SweepDay inRomulus
The City of Romulus Annual Clean
Sweep Day will take place Saturday, April
23. Waste Management co-sponsors the
event.
Volunteers are welcome from all
around the community to clean up litter
and spruce up public spaces around the
city.
No pre registration is necessary, volun-
teers need only show up at 9 a.m. at
Romulus CityHall.
The event takes place rain or shine so
volunteers should dress appropriately for
theweather. Allmaterialswill be provided.
Romulus Eco-Fair set
The second Eco-Fair in Romulus will
take place April 23. The exhibit will take
place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the
Romulus Athletic Center, 35765 Northline
Road.
Local organizations will be on hand to
distribute environmental information and
giveaways. Groups present will include
Waste Management, Huron-Clinton
Metroparks, MSU Extension Office and
others.
Concerned citizensmeet
The next meeting of the Plymouth
Concerned Citizens will take place at 7
p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the Plymouth
Library onMainStreet.
John (Jack) Dempsey and Gary
Heitman, candidates for Plymouth
Township trustee, will be speaking. The
meeting is open to the public at no charge.
Learn to bellydance
Introduction to Belly Dance classes will
begin from 6:15-7:15 p.m. April 28 and con-
tinue onThursdays through June 2.
This feminine dance combines light
cardio with core strength and flexibility
and includes hip accents, undulations and
belly rolls, shimmies, and armmovements.
Light choreography is involved.
No previous dance experience
required. Recommended attire includes
yoga/sweatpants or shorts and fitted top.
This dance is traditionally performed
barefoot but students may prefer no-slip
socks/slipper or jazz shoes on the wood
floor.
Classes recommended for those 15 and
older. The fee is $75 or $60 for city of
Plymouth residents.

Pottery sale
The Village Potters Guild members
have planned their annual spring sale
from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday April 29,
from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday April 30
and from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday May
1.
Functional and decorative pottery cre-
ated by members of the guild will be avail-
able at the annual event. Tableware, tiles,
jewelry and a wide range of decorative
and framedpieceswill be sold.

Unused drug disposal offered.
The federal Drug Enforcement
Administration and the Plymouth
Township Police Department will coordi-
nate efforts to remove potentially danger-
ous drugs from home from 10 a.m. until 2
p.m. Saturday, April 30.
Residents can bring expired, unwanted
and unused pharmaceuticals and other
medication to law enforcement officers for
the proper disposal.

Mom-to-Momsale planned
Canton Leisure Services will host a
Mom to Mom Sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
April 30 at the Summit on the Park, 46000
Summit Parkway, inCanton.
More than 60 booths will be on site
offering great deals on everything that is
baby, child or maternity related, according
to a prepared announcement. Moms will
be selling gently used children's clothing
and shoes, plus toys, books, DVDs/videos,
baby gear, Halloween costumes, water and
swim gear, and more. Bargain shoppers
will also be able to find great deals on fur-
niture, strollers, high chairs and more in
the large itemarea.
Admission is $2 from 8 - 9 a.m. and $1
from9 a.m. - 1 p.m. All sales are "cash only."

SpringClean-up set
The 2016 Spring Clean Up in the City of
Plymouth is planned for Saturday, May 7.
The annual clean up will take place in
all areas of the city. Residents should have
all items at the curb for pick up by 7 a.m.
Officials have cautioned residents, howev-
er, not to place at the curb more than 24
hours in advance of the scheduledpick up.

Grief recovery seminar offered
A grief-recovery seminar and support
group will meet at Romulus Wesleyan
Church in Romulus at 6 p.m. each
Thursday. The church is located at 37300

GriefShare features nationally recog-
nized experts on grief and recovery topics.
The 13 video sessions include "When Your
Dreams Fall Apart," "The Seasons of Grief,"
"Emotions of Grief," "When Your Spouse
Dies," "Your Family and Grief," "Growing
ThroughGrief," andmore.
Participants can attend any or all ses-
sions.
The $15 registration includes a work-
book/journal andweekly handouts.

Mother-Son dances set
CelebrateMother's Day in a special way.
Moms, aunts, grandmothers and more are
welcome for an evening of dancing and
memory-making at the annual Mother Son
Dances in Canton Township from 6:30-8:30
p.m. May 5 andMay 6.
Light refreshments and the popular bal-
loon-drop finale are included in the $9.25
admission fee.
Souvenir photos will be available for an
additional cost at the dance. Semi-formal,
dressy-casual attire recommended. All
ages require a ticket.

Champions host run
The Champions of Wayne Memorial
High School program will host a 5K
run/walk on Friday, May 6 at Wayne
Memorial High School, 3001 Fourth Street,
Wayne.
Registration starts at 4:30 p.m. and the
race begins at 6 p.m.
Cost to participate is $20 and includes a

The Champions of Wayne program is an
educational incentive program that
includes mentoring, setting academic
goals and financial rewards. The
Champions program creates an opportuni-
ty for Wayne Memorial High School stu-
dents to earn a $200 award if they reach a
customized academic goal. Students
choose a staff member as their mentor and
for one semester, they create and work
toward an academic goal. The program is
funded by The Helppie Charitable
Foundation.
