Golden anniversary
Honeymoon car marks 50th wedding celebration with couple
One of the vintage vehicles rolling
down the parade route during the
Northville 4th of July Parade really is
like amember of the owner's family.
The 1966 dark metallic-green Ford
Fairlane convertible is the car that
Ben and Carol Wold drove away from
their wedding ceremony more than 50
years ago. It is also the car that took
each of their infant children on their
very first ride, home from the hospi-
talswhere theywere born.
“We've had it a long time,” Ben
Wold said of the family car that has
been a feature of the couple's half a
century of marriage. The couple cele-
brated their 50th wedding anniver-
sary earlier this year with a cruise
and a family trip toDisneyWorld.
The Fairlane was the family vehi-
cle for many years and Carol Wold
drove it to visit her new husband
when he was at basic training for the
National Guard at Ft. Leonard Wood
in 1967 not long after their honey-
moon. The couple met when both
were students at Iowa State
University and became engaged in
1966, the same year Wold bought the
car and started his career in the finan-
