While the streets of Plymouth are
filled with ice sculptures and the sound
of chainsaws fills Kellogg Park, there is
a family-friendly hot spot just a short
walk fromthe downtown attractions.
Offering a wide selection of attrac-
tions during the 35th Annual Plymouth
Ice Festival is the Plymouth Arts and
Recreation Complex, (PARC) located in
the former Central Middle School on
MainStreet.
The facility is offering awarming sta-
tion with indoor entertainment, fitness,
music, a Winter Artisan Market,
refreshments and free opera perform-
ances of a beloved fairy tale.
The Winter Artisan Market will be
located throughout the main floor hall-
ways of the building and be open from
noon until 5 p.m. both Saturday and
Sunday during the Ice Festival. Visitors
can celebrate local culture, food, fash-
ion and art indoors. Local artisans to be
featured include: Simple Threads (DTP
gear), Glazed and Amused Pottery, Al
Coucina (packaged meals), Goose Neck
Coffee Co., Sweet Bird Kitchen (pie
crust crumbles), East Arbor Goods
(mugs and bags), Barker Handmade
(knits) andGrowSoul (yoga bags).
There will be two free performances
of Hansel andGretel presented byMain
Street Opera Theater, at 1 and 3 p.m. on
Saturday.
The show is perfect for the entire
family and children of all ages, a
spokesman from the group said. The
Engelbert Humperdinck adaptation fol-
lows Hansel and Gretel on a journey
where theymeet the Sandman, theDew
