plans and financial efforts forward,” Soenen said.
Currently, 22 full-time tenants rent space at PARC,
including the Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra. Soenen
said that almost 50 percent of the second floor and all of
the first floor is filled with art and recreation-related ten-
ants.
Soenen cannot hide his pride when he mentions the
more than 130 musical, opera, theatrical and symphony
performances that PARChas housed since 2015.
Executive Director Gail A. Grieger views PARC as
“Plymouth's destination to experience quality art, theater,
music, fitness, culinary and recreation activities.
“Walk through PARC's historic doors into the century-
old building where generations of local citizens were edu-
cated and encounter a community of talented and diverse
organizations who are dedicated to making PARC the
place where everyone can experience what is truly amaz-
ing about Plymouth,” she said.
Currently PARC is partneringwithProudMitten, owned
byMarloBendon, for a venture into culinary arts. The com-
mercial kitchen and teaching kitchens (formerly the home
economics classroom) will be used as incubator kitchens
for Michigan food makers interested in start-up planning
and execution of their products in a licensed and
Department of Agriculture approved leasable space.
“Create, collaborate, cook your creation in our space,”
said Bendon who admits he is excited about the collabora-
tion potential for clients and vendors that will utilize the
kitchen facilities.
Fitness programming has continued to expand at the
facility, too.
PARC Aquatics swimming programming for swimmers
of all ages and levels has proven popular with the commu-
nity. PARC offers seniors PARC Social: programs for peo-
ple age 60+. Seniors are encouraged to sign up, socialize
and energize themselves with pay- as-you-go fitness class-
es, water fitness and Pickleball. In addition to the aqua fit-
ness programs, seniors are invited to Z-Spot Fitness for
yoga and low impact Zumba classes that have been modi-
fied anddesigned for seniors.
However, if walking is the exercise of choice, PARCnow
offers a free certified Social Walking loop from 9 a.m. until
3 p.m. Monday throughFriday.
