Volunteers needed
Plymouth Community United Way
needs volunteers to clean yards in
Plymouth, and Plymouth and Canton
townships on Saturday, April 25 during
its Rake~N~Go. The event helps senior
citizens and developmentally disabled
adults.
Volunteers are asked to bring rakes,
garden tools, hedge trimmers, leaf blow-
ers, and gloves. PCUW will supply the
yardwaste bags.

Plymouth Community United Way
organizes two raking events a year:Make
a Difference Day in fall and
Rake~N~Go in spring. Last November,
more than 300 volunteers cleaned 67
yards of senior citizens and people with
disabilities.
Maybury Farmnowopen
Anxious to get outside and enjoy this
beautiful weather? After a long winter
Maybury Farm is a great place to go to
get outside and enjoy the sunshine and
freshair.
Visitors can meet the animals at the
working farm. The animals are on site
and used to visitors of all ages. There is
also a picnic area available and a con-
cession stand.
Maybury Farm is open from 10 a,n,
until 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday,
weather permitting. Admission to the
Farm is $2.50 per person and children
younger than 3 are admitted at no cost.
Maybury Farm is located at 50165
Eight Mile Road in Northville. It is 1-1/4
mile west of Beck Road on Eight Mile,
1/2 mile west of Maybury State Park.
Parking is available and free.
Art contest under way
State Sen. David Knezek is sponsor-
ing an Art contest for students in grades
K-8 for the springtime in Michigan Art
Contest. Winners in every grade will
have their artwork on display in Lansing
and be invited to joinKnezek for a day at
theCapitol.
The deadline for entries is May 10.

Workshop deadline nears
Reservations for the Entrepreneurial
Operating System workshop sponsored
by the Greater Romulus Chamber of
Commerce, Wayne County Community
College District and the Romulus Public
Library will be accepted until April 24 at

The workshop will feature Duane
Marshall who will guide the audience in
crating a framework for running a busi-
ness during a workshop from 12:20-2:30
p.m. June 12 at the Wayne County
Community College Western Campus,

box lunch pick up beginning at 12:30.
The presentationwill begin at 1 p.m.

Church hosts bingo
St. Aloysius Church will host 50/50
Bingo games from1-7 p.m. April 25.
The event is planned to help fund the
annual churchpicnic.
Therewill be cash prizes on all bingos
and paper and hard cards available.
Refreshmentswill be available.
The games will take place in the
church activity center, 37200 Neville St.
inRomulus.
SpringCleanUp set
The annual City of Plymouth Spring
Clean Up will take place on Saturday,
April 25 in all areas of the city. This is a
single-day event for the entire City of
Plymouth.
Residents should have item at the
curb for pick up by 7 a.m. Officials said
that items should not be placed at the
curb more than 24 hours prior to pick
up.

Spring CleanUp day is for large items
andbagged/canned trashonly.
Automated trash carts, automated
recycling carts and compost/yard waste
will not be picked up at this time.

Annual DivaDay planned
Ladies are invited to attend the 7th
Annual Diva Day from 10 a.m. until 6
p.m. Saturday, April 25 throughout down-
town Plymouth. The first 500 Divas will
get free hot pink beads. Come and do
some spring shopping and get pam-
pered. Little Divas and Diva Dogs are
alsowelcome.
Downtown Plymouth boutiques,
salons and restaurants will present spe-
cial offers, unique refreshments, and
chances towinDivaDay prizes.

Chorus presents concert
The Belleville Community Chorus
will present a concert, Hooray for
Hollywood, beginning at 7 p.m. April 25
at Belleville United Methodist Church,
417Charles St. inBelleville.
Performing with the chorus will be
the ensemble and the children's chorus.
The performance will be directed by
Susan Hiser and Joe Labuta will be the
accompanist.
Money is story time topic
The LeannaHicks Public Library will
present Money Smart Kids Read, a story
time and activities event for children 7
and younger at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25.
The program is free and each family
will receive a free copy of theBerenstain
Bears' Dollar and Sense book, the fea-
tured story of the day.
The event is sponsored by the
MichiganCredit UnionLeague as part of
Money SmartWeek inMichigan.

Free child IDprogramset
The Romulus Public Library will host
representatives from the New York Life
insurance company who will help make
free identification badges for children
during Family Story Time beginning at
6:30 p.m. April 28.
There will also be a special guest
from the Romulus Police Department
who will help teach children the impor-
tance of safety.
The event is free but pre-registration
is requested as space is limited.

Workers' compensation is topic
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce, the Westland Chamber of
Commerce and the Wayne County
Community College District Western
Campus are sponsoring a Workers'
Compensation and Liability Workshop
from noon until 2 p.m. April 28.

The event will take place at the col-

The speaker will be Al Nelson, a spe-
cialist in workers' compensation, health
care regulation, international law and
labor and employment law.

The Belleville Area Women's Club
will present the 2015 Spring Fling

FacingGiants discussed
A teen programFacing My Giants will
be presented at the Leanna Hicks
Inkster Public Library from 4-6 p.m.
April 29.
Topics included will be fears, commu-
nication, conflict resolution, decision
making, responsibility, self-esteem, life
challenges and peer pressure. There
will be free games and snacks, prizes
and giveaways for those ages 12-19.
The activities will be presented and
supervised by Angela Tabb, executive
director of The Healing Harvest, Inc. a
non-profit organization.
