There will be a three-member Board of
Ethics with authority to conduct investi-
gations, schedule hearings and make
recommendations. The ordinance pro-
vides for fines and jail time.
In other action, the board members
approved township purchase of approx-
imately 5 acres adjacent to Flodin Park
that will provide direct access east to
LilleyRoad through a future trail exten-
sion.
“It's a neat little parcel,” Williams
said after the meeting. “We're trying to
connect the entire community. It's
another piece of the puzzle.”
The Fellows Creek Drain runs
through the site, whichmeans no build-
ing is possible. The property was pur-
chased in 2017 at tax sale, and later
determined to provide an opportunity
to extend the Canton trail system at a
lowcost.
Money for the purchase comes
through the Community Improvement
Fund with a budget adjustment to come
following final details beingworked out.
Board members also approved
$7,498 to replace the eastbound
Michigan Avenue “Welcome” sign to the
township. It was struck by a car and
damaged, with officials noting the dri-
ver's insurance covered the deductible.
