A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of Canton was held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1150 Canton
Center S., Canton, Michigan. Supervisor Williams called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance to
the Flag. Motion by Siegrist, supported by Anthony to move from open session to closed session at 6:30 p.m. under section 8(e)
of the Open Meetings Act for the purpose of discussion of a confidential legal opinion section 8(d) and discussion of the pur-

NANCES CHAPTER 74 UTILITIES ORDINANCE, PART I AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CHARTER TOWN-
SHIP OF CANTON CODE OF ORDINANCES PART I, CHAPTER 74 ENTITLED “UTILITIES”, ARTICLE II, DIVI-
SION 2, SUBDIVISION II, ENTITLED “RATES AND CHARGES”, SECTION 74-83. THE AMENDMENTS TO THE
CODE (a) PROVIDE FOR REVISEDWATER RATES AND CHARGES (b) PROVIDE FOR REVISED SEWER RATES
AND CHARGES. THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF CANTON ORDAINS: SECTION 1 & 2. AMENDMENT TO THE
CODE
This Ordinance is hereby adopted to amend Part 1, Chapter 74, Article II, Division 2, Subdivision II, Section 74-83(a)
water rates and charges and Section 74-83(b) sewer rates and charges.
SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY
If any clause, sentence,
section, paragraph or part of this Ordinance, or application thereof to any person, firm, corporation, legal entity or circumstances,
shall be for any reason adjudged by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, said judgment shall not
affect, impair or invalidate the remainder of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. REPEAL
All Ordinances, or part of the Ordinances,
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed only to the extent necessary to give this Ordinance full force and effect.
SECTION 5.
SAVINGS CLAUSE
All rights and duties which have been mattered, penalties which have been incurred, proceedings which
have begun and prosecution for violations of law occurring before the effective date of this Ordinance are not affected or abated
by this Ordinance.
SECTION 6. PUBLICATION
The Clerk for the Charter Township of Canton shall cause this Ordinance to
be published in the manner required by law.
SECTION 7. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance shall take full force and effect
upon publication as required by law.

court also handles weekend felony cases

Robert McCraight, director of the
Romulus Department of Public Services,
said that tomakeway for the newbuilding
the existing Veterans Monument will be
disassembled, refurbished and reassem-
bled once the new courthouse is com-
plete. The rebuilt monument will offer
additional space so that the names of
other veterans canbe placed on thewall.
“The existing monument was built in
1991 and is in dire need of reconstruc-
tion,” McCraight said. “When the monu-
ment is reassembled, we will replace the
broken blocks and granite that have suc-
cumbed to time and the elements. In addi-
tion to repairing the weathered monu-
ment, we will be adding additional wall
space to accommodate our veterans.”
Green said that a formal ribbon cutting
will be planned at the official grand open-
ing of the new courthouse, which will also
be open to the public.
The municipal complex is located at

A class in healthy cooking is planned
from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, April 22 at Sharon
SDAChurch in Inkster.
Adventist Community Services is spon-
soring the class, titled Fast Food
Alternatives. Meatless vegan burgers,
yacc fries, cilantro dipping sauce and a
fruit smoothie milk shake will be pre-
pared as part of the live cooking demon-
stration.
The event is free and open to the pub-
lic althoughpre-registration is required.

will be admitted.

Rotary Club of Romulus, is set for 7:30
p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Hall at 39270 West Huron
River Drive in Romulus. Doors open at 6
p.m.
The evening will feature “tributes” to
legendary musicians. Tyrone Hamilton
will perform as Ray Charles, Stevie
Wonder and RonnieMilsap. Also perform-
ing will be “The Blues Brothers” and “The
What Abouts,” who have appeared on the
PBS series “MyMusic.”
Tickets are $25 per person. A table of

invited to take part in the 20th annual
Citywide Clean Sweep on Saturday,
April 21 - a day that encourages commu-
nity pride.
Residents of all ages, school groups,
civic organizations and local business
people are asked to clean up litter and
spruce uppublic spaces.
Volunteers are invited to show up
ready to work, rain or shine, at 9 a.m. at
the Romulus Senior Center, 36525
Bibbins. Participants will be assigned to
different locations.
There is no need to register, although
those in a group of four or more who
have a location in mind, can call (734)
942-7571 in advance to reserve a spot.
For the first time, volunteers are
encouraged to participate in a “before
and after” clean-up project in the city
with a chance to win prizes in a contest
sponsored by Waste Management.
Categories are “Romulus School,”
“Neighborhood or Community Group”
and “RomulusBusiness Partner.”
Entrants need to provide a photo
showing what the property looks like
before starting as well as a photo of the

Burcroff created Clean Sweep in 1999
while he was serving on the city council
as a way to encourage residents to take
pride and ownership in their communi-
ty. Since then, countless residents and
business people have participated.
Free dumping days are planned to
allow residents to dispose of large quan-
tity of items and bulky items April 19-21
in the lot south of the Romulus
Department of Public Works Building,
12600WayneRoad..
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday and Friday, April 19 and 20,
and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21.
Bulky items are limited to three per
household. No commercial waste will
be accepted and disposal is limited to
non-hazardous materials. Participants
must provide proof of Romulus residen-
cy.
