Quilt showcontinues
The 20thAnnual Quilt Exhibit will con-
tinue at the Belleville Area Museum
through themonth ofMarch.
The show this year is sponsored by the
Western Wayne County Quilt Guild and
Threads 'n' Treasurers of Belleville. Bed
turnings are planned every Friday and
Saturday.

Free promdresses offered
Free prom dresses are available for
high school seniors as part of the Princess
for a Day program at Crafted Modern
Handmade, 204 East Columbia Ave. in
Belleville.
The dresses will be given away, by
appointment only, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
April 2. Girls must pre-register at

belleville/crafteds-prom-dress-giveaway.
Each girl will be given an appointment
time to choose a dress fromwhat organiz-
ers describe as a large selection in sizes
from2 to 26.
Donations of prom and homecoming
dresses along with formal or party dress-
es, shoes, purses and accessories are also
being sought. The items should be new or
gently used from years 2008 through 2016,
organizers said.

Church hosts garage sale
SS Simon and Jude Church, 32500
Palmer Road in Westland, will host a
Garage Sale from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Saturday, April 2.
There will be a $3 bag sale at 3 p.m.
when all large items will be sold for half
price.
Pilates Plus classes offered
Pilates is a stretching exercise system
designed to strengthen muscles of the
core and help overcome back pain.
Pilates is not aerobics but is more similar
to some forms of yoga working on improv-
ing balance, coordination, flexibility, and
range of motion. The instructor canmake
modifications to make exercises easier or
more challenging. Participants should
exercise clothes and bring a mat (prefer-
ably a little thicker than a yogamat).
Classes are planned from 6-7 p.m. on
Wednesdays, March 30 - June 29. Classes
are designed for those 13 and older.
Class fee is $139 or $124 for City of
Plymouth residents.

Three Cities Art Club members will
meet from 7-9 p.m. Monday April 4 at

The speaker will be local artist Robert
Aikins who specializes in painting of air-
planes. Aikins spent 35 years designing
vehicles for Ford Motor Co. after earning
his degree at the Art Center College of
Design inLos Angeles.

The City of Plymouth - Recreation
Department, 525Farmer, inPlymouthwill
accept registrations from 5 and 6-year-
olds for a co-ed T-ball league through
April 8.

Bowl to help vets
The sons of the American Legion will
sponsor a Bowling Fundraiser beginning
with registration at noon April 9 at the
Westland Bowl, 5940 North Wayne Road
inWestland.
Bowlingwill begin at 1 p.m. and the $15
per person fee includes three games of
bowling, shoe rental pizza andpop.

GivingHope setsGirls' Night Out
Giving Hope, Women's Giving Circle,
members are organizing the annual chari-
ty event from 6:30-9 p.m. April 13 at Fox
Hills Golf & Banquet Center, 8768 North

The Giving Our All for Family, Fun and
Fitness event includes food and a cash
bar, shopping and a fashion show, a raffle
and a variety of silent auction items.

Historical society discussed
As part of the Homegrown Knowledge
series at the Belleville Area District
Library, representatives from the
Belleville Civil War Historical Society will

SpringClean-up set
The 2016 Spring CleanUp in theCity of
Plymouth is planned for Saturday, May 7.
The annual clean up will take place in
all areas of the city. Residents shouldhave
all items at the curb for pick up by 7 a.m.
Officials have cautioned residents, howev-
er, not to place items at the curb more
than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled
pick up.

Grief recovery seminar offered
A grief-recovery seminar and support
group will meet at Romulus Wesleyan
Church in Romulus at 6 p.m. each

GriefShare features nationally recog-
nized experts on grief and recovery top-
ics. The 13 video sessions include "When
Your Dreams Fall Apart," "The Seasons of
Grief," "Emotions of Grief," "When Your

Participants can attend any or all ses-

Mother-Son dances set
Celebrate Mother's Day in a special
way. Moms, aunts, grandmothers and oth-
ers are welcome for an evening of danc-
ing and memory-making at the annual
Mother Son Dances in Canton Township
from6:30-8:30 p.m. May 5 andMay 6.
Light refreshments and the popular
balloon-drop finale are included in the
$9.25 admission fee.
Souvenir photos will be available for
an additional cost at the dance. Semi-for-
mal, dressy-casual attire recommended.

Police host safetymeeting
An informational meeting regarding
the new Partners in Your Safety program
of the Canton PoliceDepartment will take
place at 7 p.m. April 13 at the Summit on
thePark.
The meeting will also include a crime
prevention presentation that meets the
one of the primary goals of the new pro-
gram.
The program is designed to build a
partnership with law enforcement and
neighborhoods, promoting problem solv-
ing and creating safer neighborhoods.

individual neighborhoods with the
resources and tools necessary to succeed
in creating a safe community, according to
