What's the story?
That is the basis, this year, of
the Short on Words competition
sponsored by Northville dentist
Dr. WilliamDemray. The contest
is part of theNorthville Arts and
Acts Festival that will take place
in June.
This year, writers entering
the competition will be asked to
choose from a selection of
Demray's photographs. An invet-
erate amateur photographer,
Demray has been taking pic-
tures most of his adult life and
has a wide and varied collection
of subjects. This year, authors 17
and younger will be asked to
base their contest essays on one
of four selected photographs.
Those authors 18 and older will
be asked to choose from a field
of six pictures and answer the
pressing question: What's the
story?
This is the fifth year for the
Short onWords competition and
again this year, the entries, both
poems and short stories should
be 1,500 words or less and must
address one of the photos. Entry
deadline is April 15.
The contest winners in both
the Young Author and Adult
Author category is $100.
