Warm welcome
A crowd of more than 2,000 reportedly attended the arrival of a very special visi-
tor in Wayne last Saturday when Santa made his official appearance. The event,
hosted by the Wayne Historical Society included musical entertainment, a
Christmas Market and the official tree lighting ceremony. There was also a petting
farm and free cookies and hot chocolate at the First Methodist Church. Every
child in attendance received a gift from Hill Crest Bible Church. Sponsors of the
city event this year included Mark Chevrolet; Demmer Ford; Diary Queen;
Wayneland Eagle Riders; Hill Crest Bible Church; First Congregational Church;
Village Dental; First Methodist United Church; Kurt's Caps; Scotty's Potty's;
Sedalia Designs; Wayne DDA; Wayne Rotary Club; Wayne 100; Wayne Westland
Credit Union; Wayne Historical Society; Wayne Historical Commission; City of
Wayne Administration; City of Wayne Fire Department; City of Wayne Police
Department; Mayor John Rhaesa; Wayne City Council; City of Wayne
Department of Public Works and the Wayne Garden Club. Entertainment was
provided at the event by the Wayne Memorial High School Zebras Marching
Band, Franklin Middle School and Wayne Memorial High School choirs, the Boy
Scouts and Girl Scouts, Village Dance and Company and many other groups.
