Stepping up
Two officers in the Wayne Police department were
recently promoted to new ranks and duties. Newly
promoted were Lt. Terrance Springer who was for-
merly a sergeant on the day shift and Sgt.
Nicholas Boruta, who was a detective in the inves-
tigations bureau with the department. Springer
has been with the City of Wayne Police
Department for 17 years, with seven of those
years as a sergeant. He has served in various
roles during his career, including School Resource
Officer, Defensive Tactics / Taser Instructor, Field
Training Program Coordinator, Peer Support Team
Leader, and Use of Force Review Board. Boruta
has been with the City of Wayne Police
Department for seven years. He has served in the
Investigations Bureau for the past year and a half
and worked road patrol prior to being in the
Investigations Bureau. Boruta is one of the depart-
ment Accreditation Managers, who assists in the
effort to become accredited through the Michigan
Association of Chiefs of Police. Boruta was named
Police Officer of the Year in 2017, and he is also a
Field Training Officer.
