PATHworkshops offered
Person Action toward Health
(PATH) workshops are planned
in September at the Western
Wayne Family Health Center,
2700HamlinBlvd. in Inkster. The
six-week workshop sessions led
by certified leaders take place on
Monday afternoons. They are
designed to provide skills and
tools to help people living with
long-termhealthproblems.

Kung Fu classes begin
The City of Plymouth
Recreation Department will
offer Kung Fu classes from 6:30-
7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept.
6 through Oct. 25 at the recre-
ation center, 525 Farmer St. in
Plymouth.
The classes offer Kung Fu
basics (stances, strikes, blocks,
kicks, and how to fall and roll
safely) for both children and
adults, along with form and
application, practical self-
defense and weapons training.
Students are required to wear
black uniforms that can be pur-
chased in class for $50. For more

Cost for the classes is $75 or
$60 for city of Plymouth resi-
dents.
Lighthouse sets yard sale
The Lighthouse, located at
34033 Palmer Road in Westland
is hosting a yard sale from 9 a.m.
until 7 p.m. Sept. 2 through Sept.
10.
The Lighthouse is a 501c3 and
funds a pantry for those less for-
tunate. All money from the yard
sale will go to buy food for the
pantry. Donations are needed
and can be dropped off at the
building from 1 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Northville Historical
Society will sponsor the 2016
Heritage Festival Victorian
Clothing Sale from 1-7 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 7, Thursday,
Sept. 8 and Friday, Sept. 9 at Mill
Race Historical Village, 215

Victorian era clothing and
accessories for adults and chil-
dren will be available for pur-
chase from various vendors.
Some clothing is new, some gen-
tly used and some is vintage.
There is a $2 admission
charge per adult visiting the sale.
Cash sales are preferred and
some vendors may not accept
checks or credit cards.

Tai Chi classes offered
The City of Plymouth
Recreation Department will
offer Tai Chi classes from 9-10:30
a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 8 through
Oct. 27 at the recreation center,
525Farmer St. inPlymouth.
The class offers a blend of
training for the body, mind and
spirit for students ages 14 and
above - but focusing on senior cit-
izens. The class will include
instruction in the Tai Chi form,
Chi Kung (internal energy skill),
meditation, and practical appli-
cation and self-defense. For

Church serves chicken supper
Willow United Methodist
Church members will serve a
Chicken Supper beginning at 5

The Friends of the Westland
Library are planning a Fall Used

This sale only, CDs and DVDs
will be $1 or amaximumof $5 for
each set.

Veteran's Summit set
The 7th Annual Veterans'
Summit will begin at 9 a.m. and
continue until noon Tuesday
Sept. 20 at Westland City Hall,
36300 Warren Road, between
Wayne Road and Central City
Parkway.
The event will include discus-
sions of benefit eligibility, health
care benefits, disability benefits
and new services. Discussions
will include information about
general changes at the Veterans'
Administration, financial and
business planning, community
health resources and a disability
update.
The event is free for veterans
and their families although pre-
registration is required.
Veteran service officers will
be available for one-on-one dis-
cussions. Attendees should bring
their DD214 if they have specific
questions for an officer.

Booville Kickoff Party set
The Belleville Area Museum,
405 Main St. in Belleville, will
host the Booville Kickoff
Painting Party from noon until 2
p.m. Sept. 24 in the MuseumFire
Hall.
The $40 per person ticket fee
includes snacks and non-alco-
holic beverages as well as sup-
plies for painting a "master-
piece."

Newdate for beer tasting
Friends of the Wayne Public
Library has postponed the Beer
Tasting fundraising from Aug. 19
to Sept. 30. Advance tickets pur-
chased for the August date will
behonored inSeptember.
The event, will now begin at 7
p.m. Sept. 30 at the library. The
event will feature a local brewing
expert who will discuss the craft
brewing process. There will be
three specialty beers to sample,
and pizza and snacks will be pro-
vided.
Tickets are $15 per person
and are available at the
Circulation Desk. Seating is lim-
ited, so advance purchase is rec-
ommended.
