Library has summer hours
The Inkster Public Library has new
summer hours and is now open from 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and from 10
a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from
noonuntil 8 p.m. onWednesdays.
The library will be closed Fridays,
Sundays andMondays.
The library is located at 2005 Inkster
Road in Inkster.

Farmer'sMarket opens
The Romulus Farmer's Market will now
be open every Wednesday from noon until
6 p.m. through Oct. 14 at the Romulus
Municipal Complex, 11111 Wayne Road in

Straight-laced display under way
The Canton Historical Society has an
exhibit of petticoats and drawers of the
turn of the century now on display at the
Canton Historical Museum, 1022 South
CantonCenterRoad inCanton.
The exhibit will continue through Aug.
23 from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m.
Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Farmoffers Story Time
Maybury Farm will host Story Time at
11 a.m. every Wednesday and Thursday
throughout the summer. In addition to
hearing a story about animals, children
can visit with the live farm animals at the
farmandplay at the playground.
The cost for Story Time is includedwith
the admission fee to the farm.
Maybury Farm is also offering Wagon
RideWednesdays at 11:30 and noon on the
second and fourth Wednesdays of the
month.
Admission to the farm is $2.50 per per-
son and children younger than 3 are
admitted at no cost. Wagon rides are $3 per
person, those younger than 3 at no cost.
Maybury Farm is located at 50165 Eight
Mile Road in Northville. It is 1-1/4 mile
west of Beck Road on Eight Mile, 1/2 mile
west of Maybury State Park. Enter at the
Maybury Farm sign, do not enter the state
park. Parking is free at Maybury Farm.

Jazz concerts begin Sunday
The Jazz in the Park Summer Concert
Series will continue through Aug. 30 in
KelloggPark indowntownPlymouth.
Admission to the concerts is free and
three different jazz acts will perform each
week. Acts appearing include; Alex Colista
Quartet, Chris Rose Trio, Trio Re
Enactment, Nathan Haddock Trio, Cory

Senator sets office hours
State Sen. Patrick Colbeck and District
Manager Penny Crider will host monthly
office hours from 7-8 a.m. July 10 in
Northville at the George's Senate Coney
Island andwill be open to the public.

tions and respond to concerns any resi-
dents of his district may have. No appoint-
ment is necessary.

The City of Westland is planning the
first Community Gathering at Corrado
Park at 5:30, Tuesday, July 14.

Outdoor Photography will be the topic

Canton cops serve coffee
The Canton Police Department has
scheduledCoffeewith aCop from9-11 a.m.
July 17 at Village Coney Island, 47182
MichiganAve.
These on-going sessions are open to the
public and provide a unique opportunity
for community members to ask questions
and learn more about the department's
work in Canton's neighborhoods and busi-
ness districts.
The majority of contacts law enforce-
ment has with the public happen during
emergencies or stressful situations. Those
situations are not always themost effective
times for relationship building, officials
said. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barri-
ers and allows for relaxed one-on-one
interaction. The Canton Police
Department is holding multiple sessions
throughout the community this year.

interested in hosting a 2-hour session of
Coffee with a Cop, should contact the

Requirements to host a 2-hour session
of Coffee with a Cop include having a
Canton location, being open to the public
andproviding coffee for attendees.
Michigan Vet Fest set
TheMichigan Vet Fest festival will open
at noon July 18 and 19 at the VFW Hall
Post 9885, 6440 North Hix Road in
Westland. The entertainment will begin at
1 p.m. and will continue until 1 a.m.
Saturday and 10 p.m. onSunday.
There is a $10 donation suggested at the
door and all proceeds go to the Wounded
Warriors Project and to Veteran's Haven in
Westland.
The event features bands, musicians
and other entertainers along with beer,
food, raffles and other activities.
The event is open to the public and is a
fundraiser for the veteran's charities.
ArtAffair onMain planned
ArtAffair on Main, a presentation of the
Belleville Area Council for the Arts is
planned for Saturday, July 25 and Sunday,
July 26, along Main Street in downtown
Belleville.
Eye-catching and unique fine arts and
contemporary crafts will again be a main-
stay on Main Street. There will also be
entertainment on themain stage.
Prior to theArtAffair onSaturdaymorn-
ing, the Community AssistanceFoundation
will host a pancake breakfast to benefit to
civic group which serves the less fortunate
in the community.
The breakfast will be served on 4th
Street in front of the old fire station.
Space camp is offered
Space Adventures, a summer camp for
children, is planned for 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
July 27 through July 31 at the Western
Campus of Wayne County Community
College District, 9555 Haggerty Road in
Belleville.
There are two sessions, one for children
in grades 1 through 3 and one of students
in grades 4 through 6. The fee for the ses-
sion is $20 and children should bring their
own lunch.
Includedwill be hands-on activities and
experiments covering all aspects of the
solar system, eclipses, space exploration,
black holes and the sun.

Shakespeare visits village
The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is
teaming up with the Michigan
Shakespeare Festival to bring several spe-
cial performances to Canton this summer.
From July 29 - Aug. 16, the Michigan
Shakespeare Festival will present its 2015
Season lineup at The Village Theater at
Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill
Road.
Performances will include: William
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's
Dream and Henry IV, along with Richard
Brinsley Sheridan's TheRivals.
