Members of the only 3D photography
club in the state will meet from 7-9:30 p.m.

Themeeting will feature a presentation
of the annual Stereo Sequence
Competition entries. These are short pro-
grams using up to 20 stereo images by 3D
photographers from around the world.
After a refreshment break, there will be a
drawing for free 3D items. The meeting
will conclude with the monthly club 3D
image competition.
The meetings are free and open to the
public. Stereo cameras, 3D movies, and
educational videos are available for mem-

Night For Northville planned
A Night For Northville, a fundraising
event for the Northville Educational
Foundation, will take place from 7-11 p.m.
March 11 at Schoolcraft College
VisTaTechCenter.
The evening will include video horse
racing, a $1,000 prize raffle, a silent auc-
tion, hors d'oeuvres prepared by college
culinary students and a cashbar.
The event is limited to those 21 and
older.
Tickets are priced at $50, $15 of which
is tax deductible, and includes "money" for
betting on races. In addition, attendees
can sponsor one of 144 race horses for $25,
name the horse and cheer it on to victory.
Horse sponsorships include a raffle ticket
for the $1,000 prize.

Famed architect is topic
Yamasaki in Detroit will be the topic of
a presentation by Free Press columnist
John Gallagher at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday,
March 14 at theWaynePublicLibrary.
Best-known for the World Trade Center
in New York City, Japanese American
architect Minoru Yamasaki (1912-1986)
worked to create moments of surprise,
serenity, and delight in distinctive build-
ings around the world. In his adopted
home of Detroit, Yamasaki produced
many important designs that range from
public buildings to offices and private resi-
dences.
Gallagher will present both a biography
of Yamasaki and discuss select projects
spanning from the late 1940s to the end of
Yamasaki's life.

'Tested' documentary shown
A special screening of the documentary
Testedwill take place at 7 p.m. March 16 in
the Northville High School Auditorium,
45700 Six Mile Road, in Northville. The
filmfollows a dozen racially and socio-eco-
nomically diverse New York City eighth
graders as they compete for spots in one of
nine top-notch public high schools. Getting
in to one of these elite schools can change
a child's life, but the only way in is to ace a
single standardized test, called the
SpecializedHighSchool Admissions Test.
Admission to the March 16 screening is
free and open to all school families and

Free tax service available
Those with an annual household
income less than $54,000 may be eligible
for a free tax service available from 1-6
p.m. Wednesday, March 15 and again
March 22. The free tax service is provided
through the Wayne Metropolitan
Community Action Agency and will be
offered at theWaynePublicLibrary.
Walk-ins will be accepted, but an
appointment would be preferable. Call

Kindergarten round up set
St. Michael Lutheran School at 3003
Hannan Dr. in Wayne will host a kinder-
garten round-up at 5:30 p.m. Thursday,
March 16.
A tour of the school, information about
the kindergarten program will be provid-

Training sessions scheduled
Frog and Toad Survey training sessions
for those interested in monitoring the
health of the Rouge River will take place
from10 a.m. until noon Saturday, March 18
at Summit on the Park, 4600 Summit
Parkway inCantonTownship.
Each training session will focus on frog
and toad identification skills in order to
help volunteers determine different
species out in the field. Frogs and toads
are considered excellent indicators of the
environmental quality around us. The
more species a site can support, the better
the habitat.
Training sessions are open to anyone,
child or adult, who is concerned about the
environment and wants to play an active
role inmonitoring its health. The sessions
are free and pre-registration is required.

Community Financial will be the pre-

Business Showcase planned for 11 a.m.
until 2 p.m. March 18 at Northville High
School.
The spotlight will be on the Northville
Business Community and the event will

will feature more than 70 diverse busi-

Winter market opens
The CantonFarmersMarket will return
with special Winter Markets during three
Sundays inMarch andApril at the Summit
on the Park community recreation center.
The Markets will take place from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. March 19, and April 23, in the
Banquet Lobby in the Summit on the Park,
located on 46000 Summit Parkway in
Canton.
More than a dozen vendors will be
onsite offering a wide assortment of
Michigan grown and made products,
including: honey, jam, cider, apples, arti-
san cheese and bread, baked goods, farm
eggs, seasonal produce grown in green-
houses and hoop houses (weather permit-
ting) and more. Bridge Card and Double
Up Food Bucks transactions will also be
accepted.
Tokens can be purchased at the Canton
Leisure Services table. Plenty of parking
is typically available toward the rear of the

HealthyCoalitionmeets
Beaumont Healthy Wayne Community
coalition is a partnership between
Beaumont Health, Wayne-Westland
Community Schools District and the City
of Wayne. The coalition meetings are an
effort to prevent the incidences of dia-
betes, cardio-vascular disease, and obesity
in the City of Wayne by implementing
healthy eating and active living strategies
in the community, according to a
spokesperson.
Meetings are open to community organ-
izations and citizens at no cost and take
place from 8:30-10 a.m. at HYPE
Recreation Center Wayne, 4635 Howe
