Mayor Pro-Tem John Barden announced that life-long Romulus resident, Corey Chandler, who started his fire-
fighter career at the City of Romulus at the age of 18, recently retired from the Garden City Fire Department after
25 years of service. Councilman Wadsworth announced that St. Aloysius Church is holding their annual fundrais-
er at St. Stephen’s Church in New Boston on February 9, 2018.

Mayor Burcroff presented a video of upcoming City events. Mayor Burcroff announced that Romulus residents,
Dorothy Byrd, Marie Butler, Clara Williams, and Celeste Warren were honored with the prestigious Vanguard
Award from the 13 th Congressional District Caucus on January 13, 2018 at the RAC. Mayor and Councilwoman
Williams presented each lady with a photo of themselves accepting their award.

6B. Treasurer’s Report:
City Treasurer, Stacy Paige, announced that City taxes are due on February 14, 2018 and she spoke of the vari-
ous payment options.
7. Public Comment
Robert McCraight, Building and Safety Director, spoke about the Curling Royale Tournament that will be held
on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from Noon until 3:00 p.m. at Mary Ann Banks Park. Proceeds will be donated
to the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) from Romulus High School for their
Sunshine Boxes project which benefits children who are displaced from their homes and living in shelters. Jan
Lemmon, Chairperson - Cemetery Board of Trustees, commented that the new court will be beautiful. A resident
inquired about the purchase of the new City fire truck.
8. Unfinished Business
City Fire Chief, Kevin Krause, commented that the new fire truck payments will be made over the next five years
with the funds coming from the CDBG grant.
9. New business: None.
10. Communication:
Councilman Wadsworth commented that he is satisfied that the committee working on the moving and restora-
tion of the Veteran’s Memorial monument will do a good job. Councilwoman Talley gave a reminder of the Soul
Food Dinner to be held February 6, 2018. Mayor Burcroff thanked Chief of Staff, Julie Wojtylko, for filling in
for him at the last Council meeting.

CITY OF ROMULUS
ORDINANCE NO. 2018-004
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 52 STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND
OTHER PUBLIC PLACES, ARTICLE II, SECTION 52-27 of the CODE OF
ORDINANCES FOR THE CITY OF ROMULUS.
THE CITY OF ROMULUS ORDAINS:
Chapter 52 Article II Section 52-27 is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 52-27. - Sidewalk maintenance.
(a) All sidewalks within the city shall be kept and maintained in good repair and free of any trees
or bushes that may interfere with the use of the sidewalk by the owner of the land adjacent to
and abutting upon the same; and if any owner shall neglect to keep and maintain the sidewalk
along the front, rear or side of the land owned by him in good repair and safe for the use of
the public, the owner shall be liable to the city for any damages recovered against the city sus-
tained by any person by reason of the sidewalk being unsafe and out of repair.
(b) The owner, person or entities occupying or in control of premises with a public sidewalk in
front of or adjacent to such premises, are required to keep such sidewalks free and clear of all
accumulations of snow in excess of two inches and reasonably free of all ice within 48 hours
after the snowfall or ice accumulation so as to render the sidewalks safe for persons walking
thereon. All persons occupying a premises who have physical health problems that would pre-
vent them from removing snow and ice accumulations shall see that the above snow and ice
accumulations are removed from the premises within 72 hours after the snowfall or ice accu-
mulations. All snowfall accumulations will be measured by the official snowfall reported at
Detroit Metropolitan Airport. If the owner or occupant fails to comply with this requirement,
the city may remove the snow or ice and charge the cost against the property owner which
may be added to the property tax as provided by state law or ordinances of the city.

players signed collegiate scholar-
ship offers on National Signing
Day last week.
Running back Terrell Huguley,
and left tackle Quinton Barrow
helped lead the Eagles to their
fourth straight Michigan High
School Athletic Association playoff
appearance and a Western Wayne
Athletic Conference League
Champion-ship. Both will play in
the NCAA Division II Great Lakes
Intercollegiate
Athletic
Conference (GLIAC). Huguley
signed with Davenport University,
while Barrow signed with Grand
Valley State.
Huguley rushed for more than
14-hundred yards on 144 carries
and scored 12 touchdowns his sen-
ior season.
“I want to thank the entire com-
munity for supporting me over the
years. It's important to stay posi-
tive and loyal, even when things
aren't going your way. I'm excited
for the opportunity to play at the
next level”, saidHuguley. He plans
to study business administration,
which he believes will prepare
himto be an entrepreneur.
Barrow is a 6-feet, 6-inch, 300-
pound descendent of the great
boxer Joe Louis. He dominated
the line of scrimmage his senior
season withmore than 50 pancake
blocks, and even scored a rushing
touchdown.
“I'm so thankful for the
Romulus coaches who prepared
me for the challenges of life. I'd
like to especially thank my offen-
sive line coaches who helped me
develop my technique and disci-
pline towards the game”, said
Barrow. Barrow will study busi-
ness management and looks for-
ward to college life.

Death of infant mourned
Romulus city employees,
family members and friends
are mourning the death of 3-
day-old infant Jonah Calvin
Danci.
The baby is the son of John
and Jazmine Danci of
Romulus, both City of
Romulus employees.
The baby, was born at 11:16
a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, weigh-
ing 8 pounds and 3 ounces and
measuring 21 inches in length.
He died at 10:54 p.m. Sunday,
Feb. 11 after three dayswithhis family.
The infant who “will be held in the
hearts of his family forever,” is the paternal
grandson of Aurel Danci and Sheryl
(Willits) Danci of Ann Arbor and themater-
nal grandson of Dan and Starr (Dailey)
Bennett of Romulus. His death is also
mourned by numerous uncles, aunts and
countless familymembers and friends.
A private family service, at which
friends will be welcome, is planned
between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb.
24, at the Romulus Senior Center, 36525
Bibbins St., Romulus. There will be a
memorial luncheon and openhouse.
As an expression of sympathy, the fami-
ly requests memorial contributions be
made to The Romulus Public Safety
Foundation or The Beaumont Health
Foundation-Beaumont Wayne Emergency
Department.
