This year will mark the 31st year for
the Sumpter Parks and Recreation
SumpterFest.
The five-day event will take place
Memorial Day weekend, May 26, 27, 28,
29 and 30 at the Sumpter Fairgrounds,
located at Sumpter andDunn roads.

said that attractions this year will
include the traditional attractions which
have been bringing crowds to the event
formore than three decades.
As always, in addition to all the enter-
tainment, there will be several food ven-
dors on hand every day, he said, along
with the popular cutest baby contest,
silent auctions, a craft market and a car
show.
“As chairman of the Sumpter Country
Festival, and on behalf of the Sumpter
Parks and Recreation Commission, I
would like to welcome everyone to the
2016 Annual Sumpter Country Fest. We
have many dedicated volunteers, who
have put in countless hours to bring an
affordable and fun family event to the
community. Through the support of the
Sumpter Township Board of Trustees
and township departments, citizens and
sponsors, we've put together an exciting
line-up of events this year,” Toms said.
Toms promised therewould be some-
thing for everyone at the event which
annually draws an estimated 10,000 peo-
ple.

“Our theme this year is 'American
Heroes' which pays tribute to our heroes
in uniform:
Military, Police,
and Firefight-
ers.
“Some of
our activities
will include the
S c h m i d t ' s
Amusements Carnival, fireworks, U.S.A.
Demolition Derby, pony pulls, children's
entertainment, tribute artists, bands,
beer tent, pony rides and bingo,” he
said.
“I would like to thank the community
and sponsors for their continued sup-
port and encouragement. Many thanks
also to the wonderful volunteers who
have donated somuchof their time.
“Come and join us in the fun,” Toms
concluded.
