Fireworks display is festival finale
Fireworks are literally fire in the sky, and organizers of the
Westland Blues, Brews and Barbecue are eager to showcase the
spectacular display at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug., 4, over city skies.
TheWestland BBQ fireworks will be at the Thomas H. Brown
Central City Park located at 36601 Ford Road. This is the third
year for City ofWestland fireworks, notedCraigBrown, city inter-
imchief innovation officer.
"This has become a great finish for what has become the jewel
of the city's summer events," saidBrown.
"Considering we had over 14,000 people at Blues, Brews and
Barbecue last year, with themajority on the day of the fireworks,
I would have to definitely say they are popular with the resi-
dents."
The Westland fireworks display will last about 20 minutes,
Brown said.
A private professional fireworks company handles the
Westland fireworks for the city with the full involvement of the
Westland Fire Department, Brown said. The firm uses business
best practices to ensure people's safety, he added.
