Northville hostsGirlsNight Out
Northville businesses will be staying
open until 9 p.m. Friday, March 31 for Girls
Night Out throughout downtown. Special
shopping begins at 5 p.m. with drawings
and discounts at many of the 50 retail
stores participating in the semi-annual
event.
Following shopping, many restaurants
in towns are offering special prices for
GirlsNight Out participants.
School plans open house
St. Michael Lutheran School at 3003
Hannan Road in Wayne is hosting an all
school Open House from 10 a.m. until noon
Saturday, April 1.
Visitors can meet teachers and learn
about the school programs.
The Leslie Science Center will present
a wild animal exhibit from 11 a.m. until

Library hosts art exhibit
The William Faust Westland Public
Library will host the fifth annual art exhi-
bition of the Three Cities Art Club from
9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 1 and
fromnoonuntil 5 p.m. Sunday, April 2.
Eighteen artist members of Three Cities
Art Club will be exhibiting more than 75
original fine artworks including works in
oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, charcoal,
ceramic, reverse painting on glass, photog-
raphy andmore.
Everyone attending the exhibition will
have the chance to vote for their three
favorite works of art which will enter them
in a drawing for a chance towin one of four
collectable, limited-edition porcelain dolls,
each in their original packaging.
Refreshments will be available during
the exhibition.

Spring fashion showset
Members of theBellevilleAreaWomen's
Clubwill present their annual Spring Fling
Fashion Show at the Belleville Yacht Club
from6-9 p.m. Monday, April 3.
The event, which is usually a sell-out,
will feature strolling buffets, a cash bar,
silent and Chinese auctions as well as the
fashiondisplay.
The club organizes the fashion show as
a major fundraiser to award scholarships
to seniors at Belleville High School. The
club is a non-profit, 501 c 3.
Usually, a spokesperson noted, more
than 200 tickets are sold to the event and
can be purchased from any club member,
at Moving the Mitten Real Estate Group,
245 Main St. Belleville or by calling

Tickets are priced at $32.
The Belleville Yacht Club (BYC) is locat-
ed at 831 East Huron River Dr. in
Belleville.
Art workshops available
The Plymouth Community Arts Council
will offer three workshops for students
ages 6-13 during spring break.
Painting will be offered from 10 a.m.
until noon on Tuesday, April 4 when stu-
dents can design a background and add 3D
pieces to their art. Pottery will be offered
from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday,
April 5when students can learn techniques
and created a tile. Out of the Scrap Box
Day is planned for 10 a.m. until noon
Thursday, April 6. Students can choose to
make a bird feeder, sun mobile or robot
treasure box.
The cost is $22 per day for arts council
members and $24 for non-members or $60
for all three days.

Tri-Community update planned
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce will host the Tri-Community
Update during the member luncheon at
noonWednesday, April 5.
Featured speakers will be Sumpter
Township Deputy Supervisor Karen
Armatis, Belleville Mayor Kerreen Conley
and Van Buren Township Supervisor
KevinMcNamara.
The luncheon will take place at Wayne
County Community College District

expert Ginger Bruder will guide partici-
pants through strategies and resources

tories. The final class will feature a lecture
by Mark Bowden, the librarian in charge of
local history collections at the Detroit
PublicLibrary.

Joel Stone will present The Ubiquitous
Mr. Kahn, Albert Kahn's architectural lega-
cy beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April
5 in the General Purpose Room at Yankee

looks at Kahn's revolutionizing of industrial
building design and his influence on the
artistic and aesthetic elements of commer-
cial and residential structures. The presen-
tation is free and will examine Kahn's

WorldWar I is topic
The Wayne Historical Society is com-
memorating the centennial anniversary of
the United States entry into World War I,
“thewar to end all wars" April 6, 1917.
Society member John Mills will present
"Over There, OverHere" at 7 p.m. Thursday,
April 6, at the Wayne Historical Museum,
Biddle and Main in downtown Wayne.
Doors will open at 6:30 and refreshments
will be served.
A short business meeting will open the
program. Society members will honor and
discuss thosewho served on the front lines,
or supported liberty and the war effort
here, on the home front 100 years ago. The
meeting is free open to the public who are
encouraged to bring World War I family
artifacts tohelp share personal stories.
Northville exhibit opens
The Northville Art House will present
IMPRINT: A Kate Paul Retrospective, fea-
turingmore than 50 works, including paint-
ings, etchings, sketches, sculptures, and
prose, by Livonia artist Kate Paul. The
exhibition opens with a reception from 6-9
p.m. Friday, April 7, with gallery talk at 7
p.m. The exhibit will continue through
Saturday, April 29, during Art House hours,
noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday
andnoonuntil 4 p.m. onSaturdays.

Bowling fundraiser planned
The Belleville Area Chamber of
Commerce and the Van Buren Public
Schools Education Foundation have
planned an evening of bowling to generate
funds beginning at 8 p.m. April 7 at Lodge
Lanes, 46255 I-94 ServiceDr. inBelleville.
The entry fee is $20 per person which
includes three games of bowling, shoe
rental and pizza. Registration will begin at
7 p.m.
The evening will include a 50/50 draw-
ings, prizes and raffles. A cash bar will be
available.
