Westland Hockey Ad
moved.
“I always carried it,” Spisak said.
“Always in my front pocket. I have no
idea howor exactlywhen it was lost.”
LeBlanc made Spisak's family mem-
bers promise to buy a badge-case to pro-
tect the shield from now on, rather than
theworn leather backer Spisak had been
using.
LeBlanc also noted that Spisak's
tenure with the city coincides with the
50th anniversary of Westland which will
be celebrated this year.
“You know,” Spisak said, “I have
worked for every single mayor the city
has ever had. Some liked me, some did-
n't.”
Spisak said he hoped to be able to call
the collector in California to see how he
came to have the badge but more impor-
tantly, he wanted to thank LeBlanc,
whom he has known for more than 25
years, for retrieving it and returning it to
him.
“This is a big deal,” he said. “This is a
really big deal. I gotta thank you for find-
ing it. This is pretty awesome,” he said.
