When the annual Northville 4th of
July Parade passes by the expected
20,000 cheering onlookers, it will
include several new attractions, some
returning floats and several ongoing
and longstanding traditions.
Among those traditions will be the
float from St. Mary Mercy Hospital in
Livonia which has, for about 12 years,
been amajor sponsor of the event.
"With them, and our other sponsors,
this would be very, very difficult to do,"
said Shari Peters, president of the
Northville Community Foundation
which has organized and run the
parade for the past 15 years.
Each year, St. Mary helps fund the
parade costs and also enters a float in
the parade. Usually, the hospital work-
ers come up with a clever, medical
theme for the float and are always very
well receivedby the crowds.

Last year, the parade judges loved the St. Mary float depicting the founding
fathers and pulled by an ambulance from St. Mary.
