Celebrating America’s Heroes
Foundation thanks volunteers, sponsors for help with parade
One of the most popular and tradi-
tional celebrations of Independence
Day draws a huge crowd to the streets
of Northville every 4th of July as the
Northville Community Foundation
presents the annual parade.
This will be the 16th year the foun-
dation has organized the event, and
according to Foundation President
Shari Peters, the event continues to
grow inpopularity every year.
“This is all the work of volunteers,”
she said. “That really speaks to the
kind of community inwhichwe are for-
tunate to live. These volunteers will
start almost immediately after the
parade ends July 4 to work on next
year. I really think that's the reason it
continues to grow and be such a strong
attraction,” she added.
“We couldn't do this without the vol-
unteers and we thank them so much
for all their efforts andhelp.”
Peters said another thanks goes to
St. Mary Mercy Hospital which will be
the main sponsor of the parade for the
13th time this year.
“We are so extremely grateful to
them for their generosity and for their
participation in the parade. Each year
the employees, doctors and nurses
work on their float and then walk in
the parade. Many, many thanks to
them,” she said. Peters also thanked to
the many other parade sponsors who,
she said, make the parade better every
year.
“People from throughout southeast
Michigan have a chance to see just
what a wonderful community
Northville is when they see this
parade.
“We are celebrating America's
heroes this year and I think we ought
to include these people in that group,”
Peters said.
