“We are in a rebuilding effort,” he
said, “I realize that, and I am very
pleased with the progress in just one
year. Sponsors are taking notice of
what a great event it is and I expect to
see even more of them participate
next year. Many have expressed an
interest in seeing how the event goes
this year. The bigger ice sculptures
comewith the sponsors,” he said.
Geitzen said he enjoys the Ice
Festival in particular because it really
gives a boost to business during a slow
time, right after the holidays. Geitzen
is from an entrepreneurial family and
his father still owns Henry's Service
Station in Wayne. The Northville High
School graduate wanted to have his
own business from grade school and
after graduation went to work for a
professional event planning and book-
ing company that specialized in com-
munity concerts and festivals.
Geitzen said he knew that was what
he wanted to do and when the compa-
ny was sold, he formed JAG
Entertainment. He had been working
with Plymouth for several years and
the city continued their relationship
with himas he had been themain con-
tact for festival and concert bookings,
somethingGeitzen appreciates.
“All the festivals in Plymouth add to
the atmosphere of the community.
There is an infusion of cash from visi-
tors which benefits the businesses and
the city. These festivals really add to
the regional reputation and local
atmosphere of the community and
make it a better place,” he added. “It
needs to be done to present the com-
munity in the best light.
