Hats For Homeless needed
The Plymouth Community United Way is
sponsoring a Hats For The Homeless drive
throughDec. 18.
Donors are asked to drop off new hats,
mittens, gloves, scarves, blankets, and socks
at Plymouth Community United Way, 960 W.
Ann Arbor Trail, Suite 2, Plymouth, during
business hours 7:45 a.m. until 4:30Monday -
Thursday and from 7:45 a.m. until 2:45

Blankets are needed
Plymouth Community United Way is
holding a Blanket Drive in support of the
homeless community through Jan. 15, 2016.

Goodfellows applications available
The Belleville Goodfellows will be
accepting applications for Belleville and
VanBurenTownship residents throughDec.
4. Applications will be at the Van Buren
Township Hall. The Goodfellows provide
Christmas gifts for newborns - age 15 and
food for seniors. For more information on
how to help the Goodfellows' holiday efforts,

The First United Methodist Church will
be distributing Thanksgiving food bags Nov.
17-19 and Christmas food bags onDec. 15-17.
Donations of non-perishable food, are
sought and can be accepted at the church by

The Salvation Army will be distributing
Thanksgiving food boxes on Nov. 21.
Applications for Christmas help will be
accepted Dec. 1 - 4. For Christmas, the
Salvation Army will distribute gifts for new-
born through seniors in high schools along
with food. There is also help available for
seniors/singles and couples without chil-
dren.
Proof of residency and ID/income for the
household will be required when register-
ing for help.

Teen programs planned
The Romulus Library will host a movie
matinee and pizza party beginning at 1 p.m.
Nov. 14.
Themoviewill bePaper Towns andpizza
and pop will be served. The event is limited
to those ages 12 and older and the movie is
rated PG-13. Twelve-year-olds will need
parental permission for themovie.

Story time for families set
The Belleville Area District Library
hosts Family Storytime at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16
throughDec. 14.
The storytime is for children in pre-
school through elementary classes, ages 4
through 10.
Toddler Time storytimes take place at 11
a.m. on Tuesdays, Nov. 17 through Dec. 15
and at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, Nov. 19
throughDec. 17.
This program is designed for children
ages 2 through 4.

The library will host Santa from 6:30
until 8 p.m. Dec. 21.
Spectacular tickets on sale
The Central City Christmas Spectacular
will celebrate the Magic of Christmas like
never before with an all-new, unforgettable
experience as Santa Claus, Mrs.C, and Ellie
take center stage with a large cast of per-
formers fromthroughout the area.
Audiences will get a sneak peek at what
really happens in the North Pole as Santa
andhis elves prepare for the big day.
Therewill be twirling ballerinas, dancing
Toy Soldiers and a sleigh ride around the
worldwithSanta andhismagical reindeer.
Seven performances are planned at the
Village Theater at Cherry Hill, in Canton, at
6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 11 a.m., 3
p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and at noon and
4 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 17 through Dec. 20.
Tickets are $23 and go on sale to the public
beginning Nov.16 at Central City Dance
Center, 6700 Canton Center Road, Canton.
Tickets are reserved seating and cannot be
purchased the day of the show.

Senior BookClub tomeet
The Senior Book Club at the Romulus
Library will meet at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at the

ShredDay is planned
Edward Joneswill host a ShredDay from
1:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Belleville Area

shreddocuments.

Senator hosts office hours
State Sen. PatrickColbeckwill host office
hours from 11 a.m. until noon Nov. 20 at the
Civic Park Senior Center, 15218 Farmington
Road in Livonia. The event is open to the
public.

Plymouth and Wayne along with the town-

Power of the Purse planned
A fundraiser for the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society, along with several other
local non-profits, is planned for 6:30-9:30
p.m. Nov. 20 at theBellevilleYacht Club.
Featured at the event will be an open bar,
food stations and purses, lots of purses
which will be auctioned off to aid the chari-
ties. Last year more than 300 purses, includ-
ing name brands, designer and some origi-
nal artist-designed bags were auctioned at
the event.
Tickets for the event are $35 in advance
or $40 at the door. All donations are tax

Holiday pottery sale set
The Village Potters Guild members will
host their annual Holiday Sale from5-8 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 19; from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Friday; Nov. 20; from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 21 and fromnoon until 4 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 22.
Functional and decorative pottery creat-
ed by 25 members of the guild will be avail-
able at the event. Items includemugs, orna-
ments, tiles, dinnerware, vases, jewelry, and
large platters. Prices range from$4 to $200.

Breakfast tickets on sale
Tickets for the Canton Breakfast with
Santa from 9-11 a.m. Dec. 5 are now on sale.
The breakfast will be served at the Summit
on theParkBallroom.
During breakfast, children can share
their wish list with Santa, create a craft, and
enjoy a Christmas story time. All children
will receive a holiday souvenir, crayons, and
placemat. Online registration is not avail-
able.
Ticket sales will continue until Dec. 1
and must be purchased in advance at the
Summit on the Park. Ticket prices are $4 for
those 3 years of age and younger andCanton
residents and $4 for non-residents; $15 for
residents 4-12 years of age and residents
and $18 for non-residents and $19 for resi-
dents 13 and older and $23 for non-resi-

The secondmeeting of a new group dedi-
cated to the history of Detroit Metro Airport

BloodDrive planned
The American Red Cross will host a
blood drive from 11 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Dec.
14 at Plymouth City Hall, 201 South Main St
inPlymouth.
The blood drive will take place on the
second floor of city hall. Organizers said that
one pint of blood can save up to three lives
and the need is constant.

Zumba party planned
Canton will host Zumba® Party Hearty
on from 9-1-:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, to
benefit the American Heart Association.
Zumba® enthusiasts are asked to wear red
and dance the morning away for a great
cause at the Summit on the Park, located at
46000 Summit Parkway, Canton. Admission
to the event is a $5minimumdonation.
"Folks who attend our Zumba® Party
Hearty fundraiser will have a blast with this
unique dance fitness experience where
everyone usually forgets that they are exer-
cising," said Kristi Zebrowski, health and
wellness coordinator. "Together we can use
our dance moves and join the fight again
Heart Disease."

the "moving" comedy
Things My Mother
Taught Me

15.
This romantic comedy finds Gabe
and Olivia, a 20-something couple,
moving into their first apartment
together. They have packed up the
moving van and driven halfway across
the country to Chicago to start a new
life together, independent, and 'away
from the folks". Their moving day does-
n't go exactly as planned, though, and
things become slightlymore complicat-
ed when both sets of parents show up
to help.
The comedy features Christine
Doulette (Novi) as Olivia and Griffin
Burke (Northville) as Gabe. The cast is
completed by Betty Berryman, Pat
McKane, Marian Busa and Rich
Pientak, all of Canton Township, and
Terry Viviani from Westland.

is directed by
company Founder/Artistic Director,
Craig A. Hane. Thiswill be the last pro-
duction Hane directs for Barefoot
Productions before leaving in the
spring to pursue a newendeavor in the
performing arts. Hane has staged and
directed 40 of the 52 productions and
events during the past 10 years for
Barefoot.
