The Village Theater at Cherry Hill will
exhibit artwork from the 25th Annual
Canton Fine Arts Exhibition through Nov.
4, bringing together works of some of the
best artists throughout southeast
Michigan. The exhibit contains works in a
variety of media, including: paintings,
sculptures, mixed media, drawings, pas-
tels, andphotography.
Winners this year include: Best of Show
- Paul Van Heest for Lepidopterphobic
Rhinoceros (Colored Pencil); Second
Place - SoulKeever for Incense
(Watercolor); Third Place - Brenda Beene
Shackleford for Body Language (Mixed
Media). Honorable Mentions were award-
ed to Haydar Alyasiry for Bloody Wedding
#2 (Oil) and Barbara Eko Murphy for
Sound of Silence (Inks). Merit Awards
went to: Kathleen Boettcher for I See You
Clearly (Acrylic); Rozelle Copeland for 3
Bees (Photography); John Middlestead for
Light up the Floor (Photography) and
Reem Taki for Persian Carpet
(Gold/Gouache).
"We are delighted to bring back this
exhibit, which has gained a tremendous
reputation for featuring engaging artists
who are creating not only what's new, but
what's next," said Joe Kvoriak, Canton
Performing Arts coordinator. "This year's
Canton Fine Arts Exhibition truly pres-
ents art for all ages and interests. Each
year, we continue to see works from some
of the best artists living and working in
Michigan."
More than 40 pieces were selected by
juror Jean-Paul Aboudib, who is a
Michigan-based artist working and resid-
ing in the metro Detroit area. Aboudib
earned aBFAdegree fromTheCollege for
Creative Studies and an MFA in Painting
from Wayne State University in Detroit.
His current paintings embody a saturated
color palette and a painterly approach
culled from a variation of expressive real-
ism.
The public is encouraged to view this
free exhibit from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

ACCESS TO PUBLIC MEETINGS
The Charter Township of Canton will provide necessary, reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities at
the meeting/hearing upon notice to the Charter Township of Canton.
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"), the Charter Township
of Canton will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs,
or activities.
Employment:
The Charter Township of Canton does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment prac-

Ted Kuckelman Community
Service Award, the Leona
VanBuhler Chamber Member
of the Year Award and the
Business of theYear Award.
Criteria for the Ted
Kuckelman
Community
Service Award requires the
nominee be at least 18-years-
old and been a participant in
the Belleville area community
for at least the last six months.
Preferably the recipient should
have made a long-term contri-
bution to the community.
Nominees should be providing
a service for the Belleville area
community and have a letter of
recommendation from at least
one chamber member listing
reasons for consideration.
Criteria for the Leona
VanBuhler Chamber Member
of the Year Award includes that
the nominee be a current mem-
ber of the chamber of com-
merce of at least 3 years stand-
ing. The nominee can be the
owner, manager or employee of
a business and must be nomi-
nated and recommended by a
chamber member. The nomi-
nee should have a dedication of
self to business and exemplify
business support of the commu-
nity.
Nominees for the Business
of theYear Award should exem-
plify the best qualities expected
from a small-town business, as
well as placing an emphasis on
customer service, quality prod-
ucts and beautification of their
building and/or goods. The
committee members will be
looking at the involvement of
the company in the community,
the chamber, schools, area non-
profits, continued capital
investment in the business and
an overall community pres-
ence.

Parent Sarah Rutman, is in her second
year of volunteering with the band chaper-
ones, and is the parent of a junior baritone
player.
“The kids are amazing,” she said, “The
teamwork that they put together - they
always help each other on and off the field.
They're always happy, no matter what.
They're hard workers and nothing gets
themdown. They're inspiring tome, honest-
ly. That'swhy I do it. Nomatter howbad of a
day I'm having, they're always out there
smiling andperforming. They upliftme.”
Parent volunteerMichelleKinville has a
sophomore son and a senior son in the
band, both in the clarinet section.
“I love it. This program is excellence
personified. It's what we do. “There's no
better group of kids to hang out with than
the band kids. That's for sure,” Kinville
said.
The band has been playing for all home
games in the stadium all season, and will
feature an alumni band tomorrow, Oct. 20.
The 2017 Plymouth-Canton Marching Band
will be performing their show, “?rOund” in
MCBA competitions every Saturday
through the first weekend in November.
The marching season will conclude at the
prestigious Bands of America Grand
Nationals the secondweek ofNovember.
