City plans Fall Festival
The City of Wayne will host a Fall
Festival from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Oct. 1
throughout the downtown area.
Planned events include pumpkin
painting in Derby's Alley (between GI
Surplus and Flagship Boutique on
Michigan Avenue; food trucks and carts
featuring gourmet grilled cheese sand-
wiches and other treats; a pop-up flea
market behind Helium Studio on Wayne
Road and giveaways and deals inside
downtownbusinesses.

Liturgical dance classes offered
The
Romulus
Recreation
Department will offer Praise Him In
The Dance classes from 6 until 7:15 p.m.
Mondays, Oct. 10 throughNov. 28.
The classes, which encompass the his-
tory and truemeaning of worship dance,
will take place at the Romulus High
School dance room.
Tuition for the classes inWest African,
modern and lyrical dance, is $50 per
dancer.

FreedomWalk registration open
Online registration for the Freedom
Walk/5K Run to benefit human traffick-
ing survivors is now available at
php and those who register prior to Oct.
1 will receive a freedom tee shirt. The
event will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 22 at
Skateland West in Westland. All $25 reg-
istrations will fully support survivors of
human trafficking. Registration will
begin at the event at 11 and a Zumba
warm up will begin at 11:45 a.m. and the
walk/run start at noon.

Cemetery tour set
The Wayne Historical Society will
host the third annual Cemetery Walk
from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 2 at Westlawn
Cemetery, located at Michigan Avenue
andMerrimanRoad.
The guided tour will highlight promi-
nent African Americans from the Wayne
community including Jackie Wilson,
Sonny Banks and Nolan Strong from the
Diablos, who are buried at the facility.

Tickets for A Chocolate Affair, a bene-
fit for First Step, the program for coun-
seling and emergency housing for vic-
tims of domestic and sexual violence,

For the $30 admission ticket, visitors
can sample chocolate delights from
Southeastern Michigan restaurants, con-
fectioners and caterers along with

The event is hosted by the Ladies
Ancient Order of Hibernians, Elizabeth

Tai Chi deadline nears
Classes in Tai Chi, an Asian discipline
designed to reduce stress, improve bal-
ance, increase energy, lower blood pres-
sure, improve circulation, strengthen
muscles and increase mobility, will be
offered from 4:30 until 5:30 on Thursday,
Oct. 6 through Dec. 1 at the Romulus
Senior Center, 36525 Bibbins Road in
Romulus.
Tuition for the eight-week session is
$50 and registration will only be accept-
ed through Monday, Oct. 3 at the mayor's
office in City Hall, 1111 Wayne Road in
Romulus.

Euchre tournament benefits station
The fifth annual euchre tournament
to benefit the Plymouth Canton
Community School District radio station
is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at
the Plymouth Elks Lodge, 41700 Ann
ArborRoad inPlymouth.
Entry fee for the tournament is $20
per player before Oct. 3 and $25 at the
door.
There will be cash prized for the top
10 percent of players and pizza and
snackswill be served.

The station 88.1 is staffed by students
fromPlymouthandSalemhigh schools.
Island innorthernLakeMichigan, then
attended high school in the Chicago
area and earned her bachelor's degree
at the Dominican University in River
Forest, ILL. She studied further at the
Chicago Art Institute and Oxford
University in England and also in mul-
tiple workshops with leading instruc-
tors in theUnitedStates.
She was a partner in a marketing
communications firm, based on the
west coast of Michigan, handling major
U.S. clients, financial and educational
institutions.
Masini is also noted for her poetry
and has a newly printed book
“Contemporary Christmas Symbols in
Art and Poetry” - a selection fromorigi-
nal ChrIstmas cards that were
designed for friends and relatives dur-
ing the past 50 years. It will be avail-
able at the reception.
The exhibition, sponsored by the
Three Cities Art Club, will be on dis-
play from 9-5, Monday through Friday,
until Nov. 30 at Westland City Hall
