Church seeing crafters
St. Theodore's Confraternity of
Christian Women is seeking
crafters for a Fall Craft Show
planned from9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Oct.
13 at the parish, 8200 Wayne Road
in Westland. There are 70 tables
available for rental fee of $25 each.
No vendors are being accepted.

Pottery classes offered
The Village Potters Guild is now
accepting registrations for basic
and continuing pottery classes.
Students will learn how to create a
clay piece anduse a potter'swheel.
Classes are suitable for adults of
all levels from the beginner making
their first coil pot tomore advanced
students using a potter'swheel.
Classes are offered from 10 a.m.
until 1 p.m. or from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
onWednesdays. There is a class for
advanced students from 6:30-9:30
p.m. Tuesdays. All classes include
clay, glazes, firing and 8 hours a
week of additional lab time.
Classes are $350 for 15 weeks
andbeginSept. 5.

Exhibit benefit inNorthville
Beyond Borders: Mosaic
Exhibit and Auction will be pre-
sented at the Northville Art House
215 W. Cady St, Northville begin-
ning with an opening reception
from6-9 p.m. Sept. 7.
The exhibit is open from1-5 p.m.
Wednesday through Saturday
through Sept. 22. Bidding will be
done at the auction website:

MSF. Auction proceeds will be
donated to Doctors Without
Borders.
The exhibit is free.
Seniors host bingo
The Wayne Golden Hour Club
hosts bingo on the second and
fourth Thursday of each month.
The games are the primary source
of fund-raising for the group.
Proceeds are used to offset the cost
of hosting holiday parties, which
are open to all seniors.
Doors open at 12:40 p.m. and
bingo continues from 1-4 p.m.
Refreshments are available for pur-
chase.
The upcoming dates are Sept. 13
and 27, Oct. 11 and 25, Nov. 8 and
Dec. 13.

Victorian applications available
The Northville Victorian
Festival will return for the 24th year
Sept. 21-23 throughout the down-
town area.
Registration for non-profit
groups and crafters whowant to the
part of the festival are now being
accepted. The festival is sponsored
by the Northville Chamber of
Commerce and includes a parade,
entertainment, food, history and a
craftmarket.
Non-profit groups including
school clubs, scouts, churches, serv-
ice organizations and others can
now apply for booths to sell food
and merchandise as fundraisers or
host games.
Booth rental is $100 for the
entire weekend. Hours will be 5-8
p.m. Sept. 21, 111 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Sept. 22 and noon until 4 p.m. Sept.
23.
Crafters can join the craft mar-
ket on Saturday and Sunday. Craft
booth rental is $130 with an addi-
tional $10 jury fee.

Car showandSwapMeet set
The 18th Annual Don Rochon
Memorial 2012 Car show and Swap
Meet will take place from 9 a.m.
until 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Sumpter
Township Fairgrounds on Sumpter
Road inBelleville.
Car show entry fee is $15 and
close at 12:30 p.m. Awards will be
presented at 2:30 p.m.
Swap meet exhibitor fee is $20
per 10 by 10 feet space.
There will be door prizes, a 50/50
raffle, music, games and food.
Admission to the grandstand is
$12 for adults and $4 for children
ages 3-12.
GriefShare programoffered
Community members who have
experienced the death of a family
member or friend are invited to
attend the GriefShare program at
the Romulus Wesleyan Church
starting at 6 p.m. Sept. 12. This sem-
inar/support group will continue
eachWednesday throughDec. 9.
This nondenominational pro-
gram features Christ-centered, bib-
lical teaching that focuses on grief
topics associated with the death of
a loved one. The DVD seminar fea-
tures nationally respected grief
experts and real-life stories of peo-
ple, followed by a small group dis-
cussion about what was seen on the
DVD.

Canton Leisure Services,
Canton Downtown Development
Authority, the Canton Public
Library, Midwest Sculpture
Initiative, The Village Theater at
Cherry Hill, D&MArt Studio and
the Detroit Institute of Arts have
joined join forces to offer the art
experience.
The morning will begin with a
walking tour along Ford Road
with artist Ken Thompson who
will offer information about the
2012 Sculpture Installation.
Shuttles will leave from the
Summit on the Park, located at
46000 Summit Parkway, at 9:30
a.m. All registrants will receive a
T-Shirt and are invited to enjoy
refreshments following the tour.
Pre-registration is required at
www.cantonfun.org and tickets
are $5.
The same day, Amy DiPlacido
will have a free exhibit in the
Gallery of The Village Theater at
Cherry Hill, located at 50400
CherryHill Road.
There will be a special art
workshop for children from 1-2
p.m. in the vestibule.
No registration is required for
this freeworkshop.
Visitors can also meet at the
Summit on the Park for a very
special tour of four of the Canton
DIA Inside|Out masterpieces,
which will be led by official DIA
museum docents. These unique
riding Golf cART tours will begin
at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Pre-
registration is required for these
free tours, which will start from
the DIA masterpiece located in
the front of the Summit on the
Park.
Artists from D&M Art Studio
will host a Fine Art Workshop for
Families at their store, located at
8691N. LilleyRoad, from3-4 p.m.
This hands-on program is free
but space is limited. Call

special art experience that gives
a unique perspective on these
temporary art installations in
Canton," said Recreation
Specialist Jennifer Provenzano.
"Our goal is to provide special
access and insights into these
works and to celebrate the
importance of art in our every-
