City Clerk Ellen L. Craig-Bragg spoke about the Special School Election to be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
There are two school proposals on the ballot. Clerks from other communities will be visiting to observe the new
voting equipment. Voters can go to Michigan.gov/vote to track their absentee ballot. Clerk Bragg thanked
Mayor Burcroff, Mayor Pro-Tem Barden and Chief of Staff Julie Wojtylko for their support during preparation
for this Election.

A resident requested that the City mow the grass on city-owned property next to his house as coyotes have been
seen among the tall grass. A resident spoke about the “Relay for Life” fundraiser.

Mayor Burcroff commented that the administration will follow up on the tall grass/coyote situation.
9. New Business:
Councilman Wadsworth commented on a call he received from a local business owner who found one of his
employees unresponsive and how professional the police and first responders were at doing their jobs.

The City of Romulus, is requesting sealed bids for the Ecorse Road and Vining Road Construction.
The work includes concrete road construction, water main, sanitary, storm sewer, traffic signal, side-
walk and restoration.

ITB 17/18-06 Two Year Contractual Services Agreement for Pavement Marking
The City of Romulus, Michigan is seeking bids from qualified companies for a two year contractu-
al services agreement for the annual pavement marking of approximately thirty-six miles of Major
and Local Streets as specified by Section 811 of the MDOT Standard Specifications for Highway
Construction.

Qualified individuals and firms wishing to submit a bid must use the forms provided by the

6th Citizens Police Academy applications accepted
The City of Romulus Public
Safety Department is now
accepting applications for the
sixth Citizens Academy Class -
2017 Fall Session. The 15-week
program will commence
Wednesday, Sept. 6, and will
conclude with a graduation cer-
emony on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Classes will take place from
6:30 - 9:30 p.m. each week at the
Romulus AthleticCenter.
The Citizen Academy pro-
vides Romulus residents and
business owners with a first-
hand overview of both law
enforcement and fire service
functions of theRomulus Public
Safety Department, officials
said. Some of the training top-
ics include Patrol Operations,
Use of Force, S.W.A.T.
Operations, Bomb Squad,
Crime Scene Investigations,
Jaws of Life, Fire Suppression
demonstrations and others.
Instructors for the program
are highly-trained and experi-
enced police officers and fire-
fighters from the City of
Romulus and the Metro-Detroit
area. Participants will be
involved in both hands-on and
classroom training. Recruits
will utilize a, state of the art,
firearms training simulator and
will participate in realistic
“Shoot / Don't Shoot” scenarios.
Applicants must be at least
18 years of age and a Romulus
resident or business owner to
participate. There is no fee for
the program, however appli-
cants should be committed to
the full 15-week program. Due
to the overwhelming response
to the program, applicants must
pre-register for the class. The
class size is limited to 25 stu-
dents.

Early warning
Members of the Belleville Rotary Club presented 60 smoke/carbon monoxide
detectors to Sumpter Township for distribution, primarily to low-income seniors
who may not be able to afford the protection devices. Township employees will
handle distribution of the detectors, purchased from Sumpter ACE Hardware at a
significantly discounted price to help in the Rotary effort. Rotarian Julie Hardy,
left, Sumpter Fire Chief Joseph Januszyk, Rotarian Mary Jo Suchy and Sumpter
