Wayne reunion is planned
The Wayne High School
Alumni Association 30th Annual
All Class Reunion Banquet is

Saturday park programunder way
The Saturday in the Park pro-
gram is now under way through-
out the a 6-mile stretch of Hines
Drive. Visitors will have the
opportunity to their favorite
activities in a vehicle-free envi-
ronment from 9 a.m. until 3:30
p.m.
The program will remain in
effect until Sept. 26.
Parking is available at the
Hines Park-Helms Haven Area
(Hines Drive, west of Outer
Drive) and Hines Park-Nankin
Mills Picnic Area (Hines Drive,
east of AnnArbor Trail).

Bracelets help community
City of Romulus employees
are selling Romulus Strong
bracelets to collect funds to aid
city employees and community
memberswhoneedhelp.
The No One Fights Alone
campaign features bracelets for
$2 available at Romulus City
Hall in themayor's office and the
economic development depart-
ment, the Romulus DPW build-
ing, the Romulus Senior Center,
the Romulus Athletic Center and
theRomulus PublicLibrary.
All proceeds from the sales go
to the Romulus Employee
Benefit Funds.
Spaghetti Dinner aids baseball
The Wayne Westland Parks
and Recreation Department is
organizing an all-you-can-eat
Spaghetti Dinner to help fund
the Wayne Baseball Association
and Wayne Community Center
Youthprograms.
The dinner will take place
beginning at 6 p.m. May 8 at the
Wayne Community Center, 4635
HoweRoad inWayne.
Tickets are $7 for adults and
$4 for children and available at
the Wayne Community Center.
The evening will also feature a
silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
Senior Services will have hot
fudge sundaes for sale at the din-
ner.

Seniors celebrateCinco deMayo
Club 55+ will host a Cinco De
Mayo celebration from 6-10 p.m.
Saturday, May 9.
The event will feature enter-
tainment including Grupo
Fantasia, a five-member Tejano
band specializing in folk and
popular music originating from
the Texas-Mexico border region.
This featured act is sponsored by
Biggby Coffee on Ford Road and
Canton Center with a new loca-
tion on Sheldon Road and
MichiganAvenue.
The celebration will take
place in the Banquet Center at
Summit on the Park, located at

also feature a south of the border
buffet and cash bar by
Katherine's Catering.

The Northville Historical
Society will host a Jane Austen
Tea from 1-3:30 p.m. May 9 at the
Cady Inn inNorthville.
The tea will feature a talk
about Jane Austen by novelist

The tea is a fund raiser for the
Northville Historical Society,
and will be catered by Victoria's
TeaSalon.

Clean Sweep inRomulus
A project Mayor LeRoy D.
Burcroff began 16 years ago in
Romulus has continued to grow.
This year, Project Clean
Sweep will take place on
Saturday, May 9 and will be co-
sponsored
by
Waste
Management, the city trash
hauler.
Volunteers are asked to gath-
er at the Romulus Senior Center,
36525 Bibbins, at the corner of
Shook at 10 a.m. There will be
tasks suitable for all ages and
abilities, according to a city
spokesperson.
The day will begin with light
refreshments while gloves,
garbage bags and other supplies
are distributed. Volunteers of all
ages are welcome and encour-
aged to participate and need
only showup.

Cuckoo takes to stage
Barefoot Productions will
present One Flew Over the
Cuckoo's Nest at 8 p.m. May 8, 9,

Zydeco concert set
Monsieur Guillaume and His
Zydeco Hepcats, the leading
Zydeco band in the state, will
perform at the Plymouth-Ann
Arbor Elks Lodge from 7 p.m.
until midnight May 12 as part of
theBlues at theElks series.

the slice will be sold and there
will be a cashbar.

of the Plymouth-Ann Arbor elks

Stamp out hunger Saturday
This Saturday, May 9,
NorthvilleLetter Carrierswill be
participating in the Annual
National Food Drive to "Stamp
OutHunger."
All Northville city and town-
ship residents can participate in
the drive, by placing a bag of
nonperishable food near their
mailboxes on Saturday morning.
Some suggested items include
cans of fruit, tuna, meat prod-
ucts, vegetables and soup, as well
as boxes of pasta, rice, or cereal.
Northville Civic Concern will
receive all food collected in zip
codes 48167 and 48168. Please
check the "use by" dates on items
since expired food cannot be dis-
tributed throughour foodpantry.
Northville Civic Concern is
seeking volunteers to help with
this event. Family groups are
welcome. This is the last chance
for students who are in need of
volunteer hours to help at Civic
Concern this school year.
Volunteers are needed between
thehours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The 11th annual Nine-Pin
No-Tap Bowling Tournament
to support the Romulus
Animal Shelter is scheduled
for tomorrow, May 8, at
Romulus Lanes, 37452 Huron
RiverRoad.
Admission is $25. The out-
ing is limited to 72 bowlers.
The night includes handi-
cap doubles and singles
events, women's and men's
mystery games, snacks, cash
prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Registration begins at 6:30
p.m. with bowling starting at
7:30.

goes directly to the shelter.
