Heise hosts coffee hour
State Rep. Kurt Heise will meet with
constituents from 7:30 until 9 a.m. tomor-
row, March 20 at Biggby Coffee, 400 Ann
ArborRoad inPlymouth.
"I encourage all members of our commu-
nity to attend," said Heise, R-Plymouth. "I
always look forward to meeting with local
residents so that I can listen to every voice
that needs to be heard."

Cruise raffle tickets on sale
Tickets for the 6th annual Michigan
Philharmonic Cruise Raffle are now on
sale. This year, the raffle prize is a Viking
River Boat cruise - "The Danube Waltz" -
sailing through European cities of Passau,
Vienna, and Budapest Aug. 16-23 with an
optional three-day pre-tour in the city of
Prague. The raffle winner wins the Viking
River Cruise for two in addition to round-
trip airfare for two.
Tickets for the Cruise Raffle are $50 and
only 400 will be sold. The drawing will take
place April 11 at the Michigan
Philharmonic Springtime Swan Song con-

WildWings on ice
Mayor WilliamR. Wild and his Westland
WildWings are ready to lace up their skates
for the 6th Annual Red Wing Alumni
Charity Hockey game at 7 p.m. tomorrow at
the Mike Modano Ice Arena located at 6210
N. Wildwood in Westland. Doors open at
5:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults
and $5 for children, those younger than 3
are admitted free and on sale at theMayor's
office, the ice arena and Wayne -Westland
Federal Credit Union at 500 S. WayneRoad.
Seating is limited.
Tax preparation offered
AARP tax preparation will be offered
free toWestland residents at theFriendship
Center. This is a E-file service only and
appointments are necessary.
Generally, the tax return service offered
through AARP is for simple returns. Those
individuals with lengthy returns, many
rental properties or investments are
encouraged to have a CPA or professional
firmcomplete their returns. There is no age
or income requirement. The site manager
has discretion over what returns they are
willing and able to complete.
Taxes this year will be done on Monday,
Wednesday andFriday.

Preparers are only on site during the day
the center offers the service so any tax
question regarding a return must be taken
by a staff person, and returned by a prepar-
er at their convenience.
Book drive under way
Plymouth Community United Way and
Chuck E. Cheese will hold a month-long
drive for new children's books at the restau-
rant in Canton. The event runs through
March 31.
March is Reading Month and Plymouth
Community United Way is collecting books
in an effort to get children to read this sum-
mer to prevent the 'summer slide.' Studies
show that children, especially those from
low-income families, lose up to two months
of reading skills over the break.
Customers will receive 20 tickets for
each new children's book that is brought
into Chuck E. Cheese, the drop off site for
the drive at 42001 Ford Road. Tickets can
be used toward the purchase of prizes.
All of the new children's books will go to
children in the community.

Easter events planned
The Westland Area Jaycees' annual
Easter Egg-Stravaganza will take place
from10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at
the Wayne-Ford Civic League, 1661 N.
WayneRoad,Westland.
A pancake breakfast will be served at 10
a.m. Following breakfast, there will be
indoor crafts and photos with the Easter
Bunny. Outdoor Easter Egg Hunts, grouped
by age for children 2-12, will start at 11 a.m.
During the event, there will be a DJ, cake
walk, face painting, fire trucks and more.
This is a rain or shine event. Tickets are $2
for children ages 2-12 and $1 for adults and
children older than 12.
"EGG" Stravaganza' planned
The First United Methodist Church of
Wayne will hold an "EGG" Stravaganza from
2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the church at
3Towne Square,Wayne.
There will be snacks, crafts, Bible sto-
ries, songs and egg dying. Bring a dozen
hard-boiled eggs. The event is for children
ages kindergarten through fifth-grade.

Plymouth hosts blood drive
The need is constant and the gratifica-
tion is instant and one pint of blood can
save up to three lives.
Plymouth City Hall will be the site of an
American Red Cross Blood Drive from 11
a.m. until 4:45 p.m. onMonday onMarch 23.

Annual meeting planned
Plymouth Community United Way offi-
cials have scheduled the 2015 Annual
Meeting and Awards Presentation for 7:30-9
a.m. Friday, March 27, at Comcast, 41112
Concept Dr. inPlymouth.
The meeting and awards presentation is
a way to show appreciation for those who
contributed to the 2014-15 fundraising cam-
paign and provided community service,
organizers said.
The morning begins with networking
and a continental breakfast followed by the
meeting at 8 a.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to elect
new board members and officers, and
includes reports on the 2014 finances and
programs of the organization

Senator sets coffee hour
State Senator Hoon-Yung Hopgood (D-
Taylor) is inviting members of the commu-
nity to join him at two upcoming coffee
hours to discuss state and local issues of
concern. Hopgood represents the new 6th
Senate District, which includes the Wayne
County communities of Belleville,
Brownstown Township, Flat Rock, Huron
Township, Rockwood, Romulus, Sumpter
Township, Taylor, Van Buren Township,

Easter egg-citement planned
Two fun-filled events are planned at the
Summit on the Park in Canton Township on
Saturday, March 28.
The Easter Bunny Breakfast will take
place from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Summit Grand
Ballroom. Tickets can be purchased at the
Summit Front Desk (they will not be avail-
able at the door). Ticket prices are $15 for
residents and $18 for non-residents for 13
years and older and $10 for residents or $12
for non-residents for 4-12-year-olds. The fee
for those 3 and younger is $5. Registration
deadline is 8 p.m. March 21.
The Easter Eggstravaganza will follow
from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Heritage
Park. On site registration will be available
for $5 per family, ages up to 11 years.
Continuous egg hunts will take place
between 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. to help keep
the "hunting" fair for even the youngest par-
ticipants.

The Spotlight 'Still Got It' Players will
present Herb McCollom Jr.'s Casserole
Casanova, with musical interludes this
week at The Village Theater at Cherry
Hill inCanton.
Casserole Casanova follows the story
of Roger, a recent widower who begins
receiving meals from the ladies in town
who are concerned that he isn't eating
properly after the deathof hiswife.
It is, however, not nutrition that real-
ly concerns the ladies, each of whom
has a fantasy all her own which she
eventually reveals.
Casserole Casanova takes place in
the Biltmore Studio Stage for six per-
formances with Friday and Saturday
performances at 7 p.m. and Saturday
and Sunday performances at 2 p.m.

Casanova is general admission and
doors open a half hour before show
time. Run time is one hour and 30 min-
uteswitha 15-minute intermission.
