Museumseeking quilts
The Belleville Area Museum is looking for
quilts to display during the month of March.
Both contemporary and antique quilts are
needed.Both contemporary and vintage quilts
are welcome. The Quilt Exhibit will run from
March 1 through March 31, during museum
hours.
Anyone wishing to loan quilts for the
exhibit is asked to call the museumby Feb. 16
at (734) 697-1944.
The Belleville Area Museum is open from
3-7 p.m. Tuesdays and from noon until 4 p.m.
Wednesday throughSaturday.
Free tax help for seniors offered
The City of Wayne Senior Services will
offer the tax assistance through the American
Association of Retired Persons. The program
is free to anyonewho files basic tax forms and
all returns will be e-filed the day of prepara-
tion.
Taxes will be prepared each Wednesday
during February and March by appointment

Genealogists discussCanada
Those with Canadian roots will exclaim,
"Aye!" as the Northville Genealogical Society
presents a comprehensive overview of signifi-
cant resources and useful strategies for suc-
cessful Ontario research. This month the pre-
senter will be experienced family researcher
KathleenAnnLaBudie-Szakall.
The 2:30 meeting is on Sunday, Feb.12, at
the Northville District Library, 212 West Cady.
At 1:15, presentation, there will be a round-
table discussion of the information available
at the internet site FindAGrave. The public is
welcome to attend both sessions, free of
charge.

Free legal assistance offered
Neighborhood Legal Services of Michigan
will offer a free presentation for Wayne
County residents, 60 and older, at 10 a.m. Feb.
21 at the Wayne Community Center, 4635
HoweRoad inWayne.
Following the presentation, seniors may
speak with an attorney who will offer legal
assistance on most civil cases including wills,
guardianship, trusts, power of attorney, assist-
ed living and othermatter.

Legislator plansmeetings
State Rep. Kurt Heise will meet with local
residents district office hours onMonday, Feb.
13 inNorthville,Wayne andPlymouth.
From 10-11 a.m., he will be at the
Northville District Library, 212 W. Cady St.,
Northville.
He will meet with residents from 1-2 p.m.
at Wayne Community Center, 4635 Howe
Road, Wayne and from 3-4, he will be at the
Plymouth District Library, 223 S. Main St.,
Plymouth.
Heise is also available to meet with con-
stituents by appointment either in the district
or at his Lansing office. Residents can call toll

Genealogyworkshop is scheduled
Genealogists Keith and Ginger Bruder will
facilitate a four-week Genealogy Workshop at
the Belleville Area District Library beginning
at 7 p.m. Feb. 15. The Thursday sessions will
take place in the library programroom.
The Feb. 15 topic will be Introduction of
Genealogy. On Feb. 22, the topic will be Vital
Records and on Feb. 29, Internet Tools will e
discussed.
The final session on March 7 will feature a
librarian from the Detroit Public Burton
Historical Collection.

Seniors plan casino visit
Seniors will visit the Motor City Casino on
Feb. 21. A bus leaves at 9 a.m. from the
Romulus Senior Center, 36525Bibbins.
The cost is $10 per person. The casino pro-
vides $20 in credit upon arrival.

Students host blood drive
TheStudent Council atHillsideSchool will
host a blood drive from 2-8 p.m. Feb. 22 at the
school
The blood drive is sponsored by the
American Red Cross and appointments can
be made on line to donate at www.redcross-
blood.org and click on donating blood, type in
the sponsor code: northvilleschools in the
sponsor code area, click and find Hillside
MiddleSchool.
Church serves fish dinners
St. Aloysius Catholic Church will serve all-
you-can-eat fish dinners from 4:30 until 7 p.m.
on Fridays during Lent, beginning Feb. 24
throughMarch 30.
Dinners include fried fish, macaroni and
cheese, seasoned potatoes or French fires,
green beans, Cole slaw, dinner roll, dessert
and a beverage.
The price for adult meals is $8. Meals for
children 10 and younger are $4 and those
younger than 3 eat at no cost with the pur-
chase of an adult meal. Carry out dinners ar
prices at $8.

The Spotlight Still Got It Players will
present “The Oldest Profession” by Paula
Vogel. This funny, heartwarming, and R
rated play will be presented March 1-4 at
the Biltmore Studio in the Village
Theater inCantonTownship.
“As Ronald Reagan enters the White
House, five aging practitioners of the old-
est profession are faced with a diminish-
ing clientele, increased competition for
their niche market, and aching joints.
With wit, compassion, and humor, they
struggle to find and learn new tricks as
they fight to stay in the Life,” said director
DebbieLannen.
Performances are planned at noon
March 1, at 2 and 7 p.m. March 2 and 3
and at 2 p.m. March 4.
The cast Includes Barbara Bloom of
Novi as Vera, Lana Collins of Northville
as Mae, Beth Brooks of Northville as
Lillian, Carol Lipinski of Plymouth as
Ursula and Marian Busa of Canton as
Edna.
