Toddler Story Time available
The Romulus Public Library will host
Toddler Story time for those 0-4 years of age
for playtime, stories and crafts from 10:30-
11:30 a.m.Wednesdays throughMarch 28.
Older children can attend but must be
accompaniedby an adult.

Sundaymusic for seniors
Seniors can enjoy live music from vari-
ous bands from 2-5 p.m. every Sunday at
theVanBurenSenior Citizens Center.
There is no cost for the entertainment
and it is open to all senior citizens.

ArtCrush tickets available
ArtCrush, a fundraising event to benefit
theNorthville Art House is planned from7-
10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at Cantoro Italian
Market.
Proceeds will be used to support the
mission of the Northville Art House to
bring art to the community through free
monthly exhibits, an artist store, adult and
children's art classes and workshops and
outreachprograms in the schools.
The evening will include appetizers and
an open bar along with a creative project
lead by Maria Latour, an art instructor at
the art house. There will be live music by
jazz andblues pianist JarrodChampion.
Tickets, priced at $60 per person, will be
on sale until Feb. 4 at the Northville Art
House store.

Fireman's Ball tickets on sale
The Northville Township Firefighters
Charity Fund will host the 15th Annual
Fireman's Ball from 6 p.m. until midnight
Saturday, Feb. 17 at Laurel Manor, 39000
Schoolcraft Road inLivonia.

and include dinner, drinks, and dancing to

The Village Theater will present “Frank
Ferrante in An Afternoon with Groucho” at

wright Frank Ferrante recreates his PBS,

of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in

Genealogist to speak inBelleville
Renowned genealogist Tony Burroughs
will speak at the Ted Scott Campus of the
Wayne County Community College District
from12:30 until 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4.
Burroughs is the founder andCEOof the
Center for Black Genealogy and is an inter-
nationally known genealogist.
He taught genealogy at Chicago State
University for 15 years and has researched
Olympic Gold Medal sprint champion
Michael Johnson's family history. He has
consulted on the Rev. A Sharpton-Strom
Thurmond genealogy; the Oprah Winfrey
genealogy; African American Lives 2 and
The Real Family of Jesus. Burroughs also
consulted with the Chicago Public Schools,
New York Public Schools Chicago City
Colleges andAncestry.com.

have planned chat meetings for 6:30 p.m.

Wayne Memorial High School will be
hosting an 8th grade parent night at 6:30
p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Wayne
Memorial High School Stockmeyer

This evening is for current eighth-grade
students and their families or families
interested in more information about
Wayne Memorial High School for the 2018-
2019 school year. Students do not have to be
currently attending a Wayne-Westland
Community School to participate in this
event.
Topics covered will include: scheduling,
graduation requirements, testing out
requirements, direct college courses, AP
courses, extra-curricular activities, and
much more. All are welcome to attend, and

Diabetesworkshops begin
Wayne Senior Services will offer a six-
week workshop, Diabetes PATH (Personal
Action Toward Health) which will take
place from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays begin-
ningFeb. 7.
There will be a bonus session
Wednesday, March 21.
The free workshop is designed to pro-
vide skills and tools to help people living
with Type 2 diabetes and their support sys-
tem live a healthier life. It is an interactive
workshop presented by certified leaders.
Participants will learn how to manage
everyday activities by making an action
plan, avoid complications, balance blood
sugar, andmuchmore.

Friends of the Westland Library will

Artistic evening planned.
TheMichiganPhilharmonicwill present
“An Evening of Artistic Expression” begin-
ning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9. The per-
formance will include vocalist Lonnie
Reed, guest artist for the Michigan
Philharmonic “Rock, Pop & Soul” concert.
“An Evening of Artistic Expression” will
take place at artist Tony Roko's Warehouse
Studio.
Reed will be performing an eclectic
selection, from classical works, to pop
songs, accompanied on piano by Maurice
Draughn, principal harpist with the
MichiganPhilharmonic
Roko was named Detroit's Best Fine
Artist for three consecutive years (2015-
2017), and his art serves as the face of
AtwaterBrewery.
Tickets for the event are $40, and light
appetizers, wine, as well as Atwater
Brewery craft beer are included. The event
benefits Music and Arts Education
Programs of the Michigan Philharmonic

Assistance at 1 p.m.Wednesday, Feb. 7.
The program will b presented by
Elder Law and Advocacy Center of
NeighborhoodLegal ServicesMichigan
and will focus on guardianship, conser-
vatorship, wills, trusts, power of attor-
ney, nursing homes, assisted living, sen-
ior housing andMedicare/Medicaid.
Pre-registration is appreciated, but
walk-ins will be welcome. Participants
must be 60 years or older and a Wayne
County resident. Those attending must
be signed in by 12:45 p.m. and stay for
the entire presentation to get further
assistance fromthe attorney.
