       Chicken Sunday

68th Rotary Club Barbeque involves 700 volunteers

         It's Chicken Sunday.
For thousands of local residents that phrase translates to
highly anticipated once-a-year barbeque chicken dinner
served in Kellogg Park during the Fall Festival by the
Plymouth Rotary Club. More than 8,500 dinners will be
served this year from the huge pits erected in the parking
lots behind The Gathering. The event, in the 68th year, is one
of the major fundraising events for the club which helps
provide student scholarships and donates to multiple civic
       and school causes each year.
The event began as a small barbeque effort to pay for
some playground equipment in a city park and has grown to
a major fundraiser during the past six decades.
Rotary Club volunteers are at the huge grills by 7 a.m. get-
