An artful event
Organizer promises art show with something for everyone
For more than 25 years, Raychel
Rork and her mother, Dianne Quinn,
have been bringing art to the Milford
Memoriesweekend event.
Art in the Village is now under the
direction of Rork who assumed the
reins when Quinn retired two years ago
after more than three decades of organ-
izing the popular Plymouth Art In The
Park festival, along with the Milford art
show. Rork is quick to point out, howev-
er, that her mother is still involved and
still a fan of the artists carefully
screened for the show in Milford. Rork
noted that there are artists on a waiting
list to attend the Milford show and that
it is one of her personal favorites.
“Milford is a great town even when
the festival isn't going on,”Rork said.
Again this year, there will be nearly
400 artists exhibiting their unique and
juried work at the show. Artists come
from across the country, traveling with
their works to attend shows in
PlymouthandMilford.
This year, Rork said, she expects the
vintage art to be very popular. “There
are items made from barnwood, jewel-
ry made with antique Model T Ford
plant pieces. People seem to be looking
for items that tell a story, that have a his-
tory,” she said. “We have some really
unique things fromartists this year.”
“We really do have something for
everyone, no matter what your taste or
budget,” Rork said. “Where else but an
art show can you go and speak directly
with the person who created what you
are looking for? Almost all these artists
will make anything custom for you. Just
ask them, talk to them. They can create
exactly what you are looking for. That's
what makes an art show so special,” she
said.
“We love Milford Memories,” Rork
said, “This show is always a pleasure.”
