CandyCornContest continues
Those 18 and younger have until Nov.
30 to guess how many candy corn pieces
are in the jar at the Romulus Public
Library.
There will be only one winner who will
take home the jar and the candy by guess-
ing closest to the exact number of candies
in the container. If more than one entry
has the correct number, library staff mem-
bers will randomly select a winner from
those entries.
The winner will be contacted the first
week of December andwill have oneweek
to collect the prize.

Free balanceworkshops offered
A free award-winning workshop
designed to manage falls and increase
activity levels for seniors will be offered
from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Mondays and
Wednesdays through Dec. 5. There will be
no class onNov. 23.
The classes are beneficial for those con-
cerned about falls, interested in improving
balance, flexibility and strength. The
Matter of Balance workshop is also benefi-
cial for individuals who have fallen in the
past and who restricts their activities
because of falling concerns.
Participants must pre-register by call-
ing the Wayne Senior Services office (734)
721-7460 and leaving a message. Class size
is limited.
All sessions take place at the HYPE
Recreation Center, 4635 Howe Road in
Wayne.
CoffeewithCommissioners served
Coffee with the Commissioners will
take place from 7:30-8:30 a.m, tomorrow,
Nov. 11 at theCoffeeBean onPenniman.
Three Plymouth City Commissioners
will be on hand to talkwith residents in an
informal atmosphere. This will be an
opportunity for residents to talk briefly
about issues with a few members of the
city commission.

Person of the Year sought
The Romulus Chamber of Commerce is
now accepting nominations for the 2017
Romulus Person of theYear.
Completed forms, available at the
chamber website, must be returned to the
chamber office by 4 p.m. Dec. 16. The

Later nominations will not be consid-
ers.
A committee will review the nomina-
tions and make the selection of the win-
ning candidate.

Veterans invited to freemovie
State Senator Hoon-Yung Hopgood (D-
Taylor) will host his 2nd Annual Free
Veterans Day Movie Event planned to
begin at noon Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, in
acknowledgment of the tremendous sacri-
fice and service of America's military vet-
erans.
In cooperation with MJR Westland
Grand Cinema 16 and John Glenn High
School Junior Reserve Officers Training
Corps (JROTC), the third movie in the Da
Vinci Code series, Inferno" (PG-13) will be
shown at the MJR Westland Grand
Cinema 16 located at 6800 North Wayne
Road in Westland. Tickets are limited to
two per veteran and are available on a
first come, first served basis. Registration
is required.

Holiday tree lighting planned
The seventh annual Main Street
Boulevard Tree Lighting and Salvation
Army Red Kettle Kick Off in downtown
Plymouth is planned for Friday, Nov. 11.
During the event, the decorated trees on
the boulevard are illuminated and the
Plymouth Salvation Army partners begin
the Red Kettle drive. Non-perishable food
for the Salvation Army pantry is also col-
lected and a small gift is presented to the
first 100 peoplewho attend the event.
Gift certificates are being sought for the
event from local businesses. For more

Toast to veterans set
Romulus VFW Post 9568, located at
39270 W. Huron River Dr., is hosting veter-
ans, their families and anymembers of the

Tea is served
The Wayne Public Library is hosting an
AfternoonTea at 1 p.m. Nov. 12.
A wide sampling of teas, scones,
desserts and tea sandwiches from
Victoria's TeaSalonwill be served.
Tickets, priced at $35, are on sale now
at the Wayne Public Library. The cost is
$35 per individual or celebrate as a group
with a table of eight for $240. All proceeds
go to benefit the Friends of the Wayne
Public Library. Tickets can be purchased
at theCirculationDesk.

Potters host annual sale
Members of the Village Potters Guild
will host their annual Holiday Sale begin-
ning with a reception from 5-8 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 17.
Functional and decorative pottery cre-
ated by members of the guild will be avail-
able at this event. Wheel-thrown and
hand-built items include mugs, tiles,
plates, bowls, vases, jewelry, holiday orna-
ments, and large platters in a wide range
of affordable prices.
The sale continues from 11 a.m. until 7
p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 and from 9 a.m. until 5
p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The studio is locat-

Library sells used books
Friends of the William P. Faust Library
in Westland are planning the Winter Used
BookSale.
The event will begin with a preview
sale for members of the Friends of the
Library from3-6 p.m. Nov. 17.
The public sale will take place from 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19. Sunday,
Nov. 20 will be bag day when an entire bag
of books, CDs, DVDswill be priced at $4.

Hats For Homeless continues
Plymouth Community United Way
(PCUW) is looking for community mem-
bers to donate new, warmwinter items for
our Hats for the Homeless drive which
will continue through the month of
December.
Donors are asked to drop off new hats,
mittens, gloves, scarves, blankets, and
socks at PlymouthCommunityUnitedWay,
960 W. Ann Arbor Trail, Suite 2, Plymouth,
during business hours 7:45 a.m. until 4:30
p.m. Monday - Thursday and from 7:45
a.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Friday (745-245). All
adult and children sizes arewelcome.
Plymouth Yoga Room (474 Forest,
Plymouth,) will also be collecting from
Thursday, Nov. 24 through the end of
December.
