Tree lighting tomorrow
The Plymouth Downtown
Development Authority and the
Plymouth Salvation Army will cele-
brate the start of the holiday season
and the beginning of theRedKettle
Campaign with an official Holiday
Tree Lighting at beginning at 6:30
p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 9 at Kellogg
Park in Downtown Plymouth. The
tree lighting will take place at 7
p.m.
Radio station WCSX 94.7 and
the Salvation Brass Band will pro-
vide entertainment and there will
be refreshments and free gifts for
the first 100 guests.
Those who bring non=perish-
able food items for the Salvation
Army foodpantrywill be entered to
win gift certificates fromdowntown
merchant.
HolidayHome Tour set
The
Annual
Northville
Foundation Holiday Home Tour
will take place this year from 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17 and
once againwill feature five private-
ly-owned homes decorated for the
holidays.
Tickets are still just $20 per per-
son in advance and $25 at the door.
They can be purchased in
Northville at Gardenviews, on
Main Street, and the Chamber of
Commerce, also on Main Street.
Tickets can be purchased by credit
card over the phone and mailed by
calling the foundation office, (248)
374-0200, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30
p.m. Monday throughThursday.
Tickets sell out for the event
every year and early purchase is
recommended.
GlassMenagerie on stage
The Spotlight Players will pres-
ent The Glass Menagerie in a
black-box format this weekend and
again Nov. 16-18, at the Biltmore
Studio at the Village Theater at
CherryHill inCanton.
Since this is a black-box produc-
tion, seats are limited.
Curtain time is 8 p.m. Nov. 9 and
16, and 2 and 8 p.m. Nov. 10 and 17
and 2 p.m. Nov.11 and 18.

Salute to Service set
The Village Theater at Cherry
Hill will host the annual Salute to
Service at 2 p.m. on Veteran's Day,
Sunday, Nov. 11.
Robert H. Miller, author of
Hidden Hell: Discovering My
Father'sWWII Diary, will speak at 3
p.m. There will be able to peruse
several photo andmemorabilia dis-
plays.

Festival of Trees entries accepted
Entries are now being accepted
for the Belleville Area Historical
Museum Festival of Trees.
Community organizations, individ-
uals, and businesses display light-
ed, decorated trees or wreaths at
the museum which has become a
focal point of the community's holi-
day celebration, according to
Museum Director Katie Dallos.
This year the festival will take
place fromNov. 20 throughDec. 29.
Entries must supply their own
artificial tree, a tree stand, lights,
decorations, tree skirt, and a deco-
rative sign which displays the
name of the organization
In addition to displaying a tree,
the museum and historical society
offer the option of donating a fully
decorated tree for auction. Those
interested in participating in the
silent auction, please should the
museum at (734) 697-1944 or via

entry deadline is today, Nov. 9.

Mothers' Club lights on sale
The Mothers' Club of Northville
is now offering symbolic tree lights
for sale. The commemorative lights
are purchased in memory or honor
of an individual and will be includ-
ed on the display board in Town
Square on Main Street during the
Illumination Ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
Dec. 1.
The club has donatedmore than
$20,000 toNorthville Public schools
for academic enrichment and com-
munity outreach.
Donations for the lights range
from $5 to $100. Checks, payable to
theMothers' Club of Northville, can

Library honors veterans
The Legacy, a film by Michigan
Honor flight will be shown at 1 p.m.
Nov. 10 at the Wayne Public
Library.
TheMichiganHonor flight spon-
sors trips for World War II veterans
to visit the memorial in
Washington, D.C. The film is a 90-
minute documentary chronicling
the stories of the journey of some
veterans.

Genealogists pursue black sheep
The Northville Genealogical
Society will present Finding That
Ancestor You're Not So Proud of at
3 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Northville
District Library
The presenter, Karen Krugman,
is a professional genealogist and
has more than 20 years of experi-
ence and has written five books
based on her family history
research.
This event is open to the public
free of charge. The library is locat-
ed at 212W. Cady St. inNorthville.

The Northville Art House will present two
exhibits duringNovember andDecember.
Small Works is an all-media juried art exhibit,
back by popular demand just in time for the holiday
gift-giving season. This exhibit will showcase more
than 50 works of art limited to 12-inches by 12-inch-
es.
All the art will be sold right off the walls through-
out the duration of the exhibit. The Northville Art
House will also participate in Girls' Night Out on
Nov 9. The popular holiday raffle basket drawing
will include 14 baskets this year which feature items
like gift certificates and items from local merchants.
Eachbasket isworthmore than $200.
Celebrate! is the theme of the Northville Camera
Club exhibit, the club's biggest event of the year. The
Camera Club invites members to participate in this
show and many creative interpretations of the
theme will be on display, including nature, animals,
family, culture and architecture. Many of the photos
in this showare for sale.
Both shows continue through Dec. 15 during reg-
ular gallery hours, 1-5 p.m. Wednesday through
Saturday.
