WesternWayne Family Health
Centers, open since 2006 moved
to a larger center in Inkster last
month.
The health center was former-
ly housed in less than 10,000
square feet where primary med-
ical care for all ages, OB/GYN,
general dentistry and integrated
behavioral healthwere provided.
Space at the new center, located
just a few hundred feet down the
street from original location, has
been tripled to 29,000 square
feet. The new facility, located at
2700 Hamlin Blvd. in Inkster, has
39 examination rooms, up from
the former 12, and six dental
operatories, up from two at the
previous location.
More adults and children in
the community can access servic-
es and wait time at the center is
reduced, as each medical
provider has three examination
rooms, rather than sharing just a
few, a spokesperson noted.
Behavioral health staff has dedi-
cated office space for the first
time, offering more timely
response and more privacy, she
added.
“We have recognized for a
long time that we needed to
expand both our physical space
and bring on more providers to
meet the health and wellness
needs of families in the Inkster
area,” said Linda Atkins, CEO.
“That was impossible in our old
center, but now we have already
hired more dentists as we finally
have space for them to work and
started collaboration with
Garden City Hospital to bring in
more OB/GYN doctors and a
nurse midwife so that we can
offer more prenatal care than we
could before.” The center will
also offer more internal medi-
cine and pediatric care as there
aremore rooms touse, she said.
Atkins said a part time pedia-
trician has also been added to
the medical staff and other part-
nerships with area graduate
medical education programs will
bring on more adult medicine
providers in the near future.
“Our goal is to offer high-qual-
ity care with little to no wait for
an appointment…people need
access to appointments that fit
their schedule and their
needs…we want to see them as
soon as we can, which is possible
in our newInkster center.”
Other services will be offered
at the new facility in the months
to come including a pharmacy,
tele-psychiatry with Wayne State
University School of Medicine
faculty, a community room and a
teaching kitchen. The National
Kidney Foundation will have an
office in the building aswell.
The new address is 2700
Hamlin Blvd., which is immedi-
ately behind the Inkster post
office.
The phone number remains
(313) 561-5100. More information

The only place inMichigan to
be a part of Rockytober this year
is the classic State Wayne
Theatre.
The State -Wayne Phoenix
Theatre will feature the Rocky
Horror Show Preservation
Society shadow-cast presenta-
tion along with the original film,
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
duringOctober.
The 40-year-old movie has
been showing on the big screen
at the theater for two and half
years. This month, the show will
include the shadow-cast experi-
ence of the Michigan Rocky
Horror Preservation Society on
Oct. 3, 10, 27 and 24 with a very
special show on Devil's Night,
Oct. 30.
“The Rocky Horror Picture
Show Experience is something
we pride ourselves on offering to
our audience,” said co-executive
producer Faith Duede. “The
movie is full of great songs and
great dialogue, but to truly
appreciate it, you really have to
be a part of the entire experi-
ence. We are very fortunate to
be able to provide that with a
full shadow cast performing
along with the movie, and the
use of the props you all remem-
ber, like throwing toast, cards,
toilet paper, and using squirt
guns. We also have pre-film
videos and a pre-show dance
party, it's an amazing atmos-
phere!”
The Rocky Horror Picture
Show is a cult classic and is the
longest continuously running
film in cinematic history since
first being released in the mid-
1970s. Phoenix Theatres and
the Michigan Rocky Horror
Preservation Society are excited
to have been able to continue a
40-year tradition by presenting
the true Rocky Horror
Experience year-round at the
State Wayne, explained Cory
Jacobson, owner of Phoenix
Theatres.
“RockyHorror and the enthu-
siastic shadow cast truly make
this show the most unique, fun
and memorable night you can
spend at the movies,” Jacobson
added. “We had a crazy idea to
try to recapture this classic
movie-going experience over
two years ago. More than 7,000
patrons have descended on
Wayne for twice-monthly special
showings from throughout
Michigan and as far away as
Chicago to relive a film from
their youth or discover it for the
very first time.
“The Michigan Shadow Cast
and crew have truly developed
into one of the finest and most
professionally staged shows
around the world, and is just
great fun to be an audience par-
ticipant,” Jacobson said. “The
idea that film has been showing
in cinemas continuously for 40
years and is sold out for every
performance at State-Wayne has
been simply amazing.”
The classic theatre was built
in 1946 and after serving mil-
lions of mover-goers in Wayne
County, went through a digital
overhaul late in 2012 and was
purchased by Phoenix Theatres
in 2014. The theater is located at
35310 West Michigan Ave. For
