Anniversary dinners being served
Station 885 on Starkweather in Old
Village in Plymouth will continue to serve
$10 prime rib dinners though the end of
themonth.
The dinners are a celebration of the 36
years the restaurant has served the com-

8th annual Belleville Community Art
Show.
The exhibit will take place Oct. 27
through 29 at the Belleville Yacht Club
(BYC) and is organized by the Belleville

Representative for aDay
essay contest nowopen
State Rep. Jeff Noble of Plymouth
announced his essay contest for students
inPlymouth, Canton andNorthville.
The contest is open to students in
grades six through 12. Students are asked
to write a minimum of 250 words and no
more than 500 on the topic "Why do you
like living in Michigan?" Essays should be
submitted by mail or email by Sept. 1 and
must include student's name, address,
email or phone number, school and grade
level.
The winner will be announced on Sept.
18 and invited to Lansing to be a state rep-

Health Fair vendors sought
The Romulus Senior Center Annual
Health Fair is now accepting vendors for
the event planned forOct. 10.
Health professionals can highlight

Free corn roast planned
Bob's Old Fashioned Charity Corn
Roast will take place from 11 a.m. until 5
p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Connection
Church, 3855 Sheldon Road in Canton
Township. The annual event has been a
mainstay of summer events for many
years.
The all-you-can-eat event features
roasted corn, hot dogs, baked beans water-
melon, ice cream, cotton candy, snow
cones and a beverage, all served at no
charge. A freewill offering is requested
and all those funds are donated to various
charities, including the Canton Lions
Club.
The day will also include a 50/50 raffle,
with proceeds again going to charities in
the community, along with live entertain-
ment for children and adults.

The Belleville Area Museum is spon-
soring Dinner With Henry Ford and
Friends from 6:30-9:30 Thursday, Aug. 31
at the Ted Scott Campus of Wayne County

Tickets for the event, which will trans-
port visitors to 1925 to interact with Henry
Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey
Firestone, as performed by players from
Dore Production of Northville, are priced

The three will talk about their friend-

The Lighthouse Home Mission will
host a yard sale from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Sept. 1 through Sept. 9. All proceeds will
be used to purchase food for the pantry
which serves those in need in the commu-

Battle for Belleville planned
Representatives of YankeeAirMuseum
and the Belleville AreaMuseumwill team
up at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 for the annual
World War II Reenactment, The Battle for
Belleville.
Military vehicles and re-enactors will
caravan down Belleville Road and
attempt to liberate the local history muse-
um fromNazi troops. Both events lead up
to the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show,
which takes place, Saturday and Sunday,
Sept. 2-3 at theYankeeAirMuseum.
Legislators host coffee hour
Wayne County Commissioner Glenn S.
Anderson will be hosting a Coffee Hour in
Westland with elected officials from the
State of Michigan from 9-10 a.m. Monday,
Sept. 11 . Coffee Hour in Westland will be
co-hosted with State Reps. Robert
Kosowski and Jewell Jones at Mr. Mike's

Market celebrates autumn
The Westland Farmers and Artisans
Market will celebrate autumn with a Fall
Festival planned from3-7 p.m. Sept 14.
Along with more than 30 vendors and
artisans, there will be special seasonal
items during the day. An autumn floral
arrangements donated by My Lady's
Florist will be awarded to the winner of a
raffle plannedduring the day.
The market takes place at 1901 N.
Carlson, south of Ford Road in Central
City Park. Vendors will be selling produce,
plants, fresh foods and crafts. There is live

host a four-day White Elephant Garage
